We checked in and just found out our room is on the 6th floor. I did online check in with remote key. Does this mean I can get into the lounge? I’m guessing no but thought I’d ask in case it was an upgrade!

****so we have a late flight tonight so we’re at the pool all day. I went in to ask for a key for the gate to the pool because we’ve been using our phones. The front desk (manager) said no problem let me get you hard keys. He then asked how I’ve been enjoying the concierge lounge? I told him we never knew we had it and then I told him what the lady yesterday told me and he apologized and said that was not appropriate. He then said YOU MOST CERTAINLY DID HAVE CONCIERGE LEVEL, you received an upgrade! I told him how bummed I was that I was never told and he gave me lounge card keys that we can use until check out today. He said he was so sorry and that it was a shame no one told me upon checkin… so the moral to the story is, YES you can get a concierge level upgrade! We had a standard view room and even got to get into our room at 7am yesterday. So wow what an upgrade! Went into the lounge now and got some munchies and drinks. Just thought I would give an update!

No, not unless they specifically told you you could, and I've really never heard of being given concierge as an upgrade. It is possible that you could add it to your room, but it's a significant upcharge.

I have been put on the 6th floor before without concierge so it does happen! But maybe you'll get some awesome Pixie Dust!! Let us know!

So I just went and asked and the gal kind of made me feel like an idiot but oh well. I said I’m guessing the answer is no but we were out on the 6th does this mean we’re able to get into the lounge? She said, let me check your account. She looked and said oh you only have standard view and you would know if you had concierge by the rate would be much higher. I guess $510 a night after tax is cheap to her. We moved from being at the JW Marriott the last 2 nights at $294 a night after tax and have decided $200 plus more a night is just not worth it. The JW is brand new, easy walk rooms are gorgeous and super modern. But it was good to try it at the GC at least once.

Club Level at the Grand is around $1200/night.

All the CL rooms are on the 6th floor. But the 6th floor is not all club level.

Looks like you got your answer--no, it's a club level floor but just the room. No concierge.

Checkout my update I got today holy cow!

Wow, that's crazy! But, like, why wouldn't the check in person tell you this? They usually give you all the CL info, schedule, etc. I feel like the front desk manager gave you some "on the spot" pixie dust. In the past, when we have been given random CL upgrades, inside the room was a gift and a letter from the CL team.

All 6th floor rooms are definitely NOT CL, because our room in July was on the 6th floor, standard and it was most definitely not CL.

Glad you are able to at least enjoy it for today, though! Let us know your thoughts!

That's great, but so weird!!! If you were given an upgrade, why weren't you told about it??? I mean, how would you know and why wouldn't they have given you keys? I know you did online check-in, but why wasn't there any mention of the upgrade and a note to pick up your concierge keys? Wow, though. I've never heard of getting upgraded from standard to concierge. That's awesome but kind of too bad you didn't know sooner. FYI, the concierge attendants helped us put together some great snacks and sandwiches to take with us to the airport. Maybe you can do that before you leave.

I have no idea! I checked in the day before and at 7am sharp we got a message our room was ready with the number. I wanted to stop by the front desk to make sure the phone key would work and a lady with an iPad in the lobby stopped me and looked up my reservation and said “yep you’re room is all ready and looks like your key is activated go ahead and head upstairs! The ladies up there will help you with whatever you need”. But never mentioned anything else. So strange!! I will say at contemporary at WDW we got upgraded from the A frame standard view to a theme park view in the tower one time as well. Poly we got a nice upgrade too, o just asked if they had any paid upgrades that time and they upgraded me for free. So looks like it was another lucky upgrade this time too!

Hmm... that actually does sound to me like that person saw you had concierge and was referring the the concierge staff with "The ladies up there". But I doubt she saw/could tell it was an unexpected upgrade and probably assumed you already knew you were concierge. Doesn't really explain the other CM who said you didn't have it though.

I've been upgraded to CL from a discounted standard room four times. Twice at WDW and twice at Disneyland (once at the Disneyland hotel, to a suite, nonetheless and the other at PPH). They always made sure to tell me about the upgrade.

The way you can almost guarantee it is to book just one or 2 nights, standard, midweek. That seems to be the magic combo.

So weird. Did your room category never change in the app? When we stayed in July, our room category was listed as "Standard-Double Queen Plus Daybed." Does yours not say Club Level?

That’s kind of my guess too that they assumed I knew when they saw in the reservation I had it.

I honestly never looked, never even thought to look at it. In hindsight thinking back to little clues probably should’ve given it away, at check in them saying the ladies upstairs can help with whatever you need, and one time walking past concierge one of them said Hi, Mrs.——-, I just thought oh wow that’s nice! Again, never knew I was upgraded so never thought anymore about it, hahaha oh well….

Oh wow, too bad it was your last day, but still, glad you had a late flight so you can get some use out of it! Love it up there!
It was kind of funny, I went in when breakfast was still going and went down to the pool and told my husband wow you should see the spread in there, it’s beautiful! So at 11:55 right before bringing our bags to the bell desk, we popped into the lounge again so my husband could see and of course nothing was there. He turned to me and gave me this look like yeah right…… whoops!
