This is Mike and Michele. Mike is Robin's cousin - Robin and Caitlyn were going to join us at Disney two days after her gallbladder surgery.
WE are very touched by all the thoughts and prayers expressed on the boards.
What an awesome idea, Janette, to put together the book.
We thought we would try to update a little on what's happening in Caitlyn's life.
1) Caitlyn was actually visiting her bio father when this happened. He still has Caitlyn. Robin's mom wanted to break the news to her but he wouldn't let Ellen see Caitlyn.
Caitlyn was able to go to the funeral.
2) At the funeral Caitlyn repeatedly walked up to the casket and touched / stroked her mommy throughout the service. She put treasures in there with Robin and would rearrange them on some of the trips.
Caitlyn spoke a couple times during the service (she was the last speaker). She told everyone that her mommy loved her very much. That her mommy took her to Disney. And that she loved her mom. And she told us that Robin was like Sleeping Beauty.
3) Disney music played throughout the funeral - all the family knows Robin would not want it to be a gloomy time - even though she is missed so much. Instead we all try to remember the good times.
4) Ellen (Robin's mom) was very touched by the arrangement that was sent. Thank you.
5) Ellen has applied for temporary custody and was awarded it last Thursday. However, when she went to pick Caitlyn up there was a Writ missing from the order allowing the police to go into the house and remove Caitlyn. (The bio father was not there-his mother was caring for her).
So nothing can be done until tomorrow when the judge is able to issue the Writ. In the meantime - the family is worried that Caitlyn will 'disappear'.
6) Ellen is holding up very well considering. When she gets a great deal while shopping she says, 'Robin is saying - way to go Mom!'. We can't say how Caitlyn is actually holding up - other than the funeral, Robin's family has had no contact.
We got home this morning and haven't finished unloading the car yet - amongst all the other things we came to read the messages.
Robin was the pin that held the fabric of her family together. As everyone has said, Robin had a zest for life and an awesome sense of humor. We are all shocked and saddened.
We will try to keep everyone updated-
and if you have specific questions, feel free to drop an E.
