UPDATE!!! Disney said that NOBODY is authorized to sell tickets BUT them

I'm not sure about Ticketmania specifically, but I know a few cast members and I remember the CM who works at guest services telling a story about how a family tried to use tickets they had bought elsewhere and they were no good. I'm not sure the CM even knew where the tickets were from. The CM felt so bad because nothing could be done about it, the family was at the gate to a park, and had obviously spent a great deal of money for these bogus tickets.

I'm sure Ticketmania is fine, but use caution when buying Disney tickets from anyone but Disney. There is really no way to know if you are getting a valid ticket.

I guess the old saying goes..."If it seems too good to be true, it probably is"

There was a gentleman on the DIS about 2 years ago who bought tickets from Ticketmania.

They had been encoded incorrectly and they showed up as bogus tickets at the turnstiles.

He called Ticketmania, and they rectified the situation. It was a matter of improperly encoding the admission on the magnetic strip. The tickets were legitimate.

The lesson here is to take some sort of contact information for WHICHEVER broker you buy your tickets from so that if a problem does arise, you can get in contact with them. The operator was right in that there was NOTHING Disney could do. It had to be recitfied with Ticketmanis. And like I said - it was. ::yes::

Have no fear. Ticketmania will indeed stand behind their merchandise. ::yes::

It wasn't encoded incorrectly. It was a four day PH ticket that Disney's ATS system showed had previously been used twice before the gentleman attempted to use it. When the gentleman attempted to use it for his third admission (the fifth one for that ticket), he was denied.

The ticket was legitimate, it was just used up. The gentleman paid for a new 4 day PH and somehow got one that only had two days remaining. Ticketmania gave him back a credit for the entire amount of the ticket so he in essence got two free days admission for his troubles.

Disney cannot help you in that case any more than they can help if you had bought it from Joe Schmoe on Ebay. Their system showed that the ticket was used up after two admissions. After that it was a dead ticket. Your only recourse in this type of situation is to go back to the seller as the gentleman did.

Both Disney and Ticketmania handled this situation as they should have. You will find that most of the wholesalers you see discussed often on these boards will do the same thing. They stand behind their sales.

Last month I purchased tickets from Ticketmania for our upcoming vacation. I purchased 5 day php tickets, 2 day universals, pirates dinner adventure and arabian nights tickets.

I purchased through them after posting on these boards and another about who to purchase through and I only heard wonderful things about Ticketmania which was the broker I was thinking of using anyway. I also checked them out on the BBB and they have a satisfactory standing with them so I am not worried.

I will take their phone # and address with me just in case a problem does arrive when we get to Orlando.

hello again! iupdated my post, i wonder if i should call disney for tickets....
i am a scaredy cat i guess!
::yes::

As long as you purchase them from a reputable dealer, don't worry.

Ticketmania, Mapleleaf Tickets, AAA, etc are and will stand behind your purchase.

However, if you are still uncomfortable with the feedback on these type of vendors, just buy them from Disney and you will have one less worry (although many extra dollars lighter)

Just back. Our tickets thru Ticketmania were fine, waiting for us at the resort desk. I had even called them a couple days before we left to upgrade them. They were very nice. :sunny:

Hi Y'all!
I just looked up www.disney.com and Ticketmania.com and did some comparison shopping. www.disney is $14 cheaper per person on a 7 day PHP ticket. Why go through the "middle man" and pay more and be scared that your ticket doesn't work? I am calling my AAA office and seeing about their prices, I'll let you all know. With Disney as "The big Gorilla" I don't know how we can score cheaper tickets than what they are willing to sell at, without going to ebay, of coarse. Too scarey in my opinion!

Actually, Disney's ticket price for an advance purchase 7 day PHP is $336.54. Ticketmania's price is $330.

Disneyworld.com (disney.com) does NOT include tax on the prices you see until you place them in your shopping cart and try to check out. So for all those prices you see, you have to add 6.5% percent, plus $3 per ORDER (not per ticket - unless you order will-call, in which case you don't need to apply the $3) for tax, and shipping and handling.

Once again - Ticketmania is a REPUTABLE dealer. They have a contract with Disney and are authorized to sell tickets.

AAA prices will run you (generally) about $5 or so cheaper than Disney's advance purchase prices.

Thanks Dan!
I didn't realize about the tax thing. What a scam! haha I think I will call my AAA agent soon and get those tickets ordered. Thanks for the info! That's why I check out these boards, you all are so smart!
