UPDATE! A rate ? for those checking into Dolphin 12/25 or later

What rate are you getting, if I may be so bold? We keep playing around with the dates of our Xmas trip and may get to stay longer than orig planned...but that means a rate change for us on 12/25,26, and 27. I had booked our stay for a few nights longer than expected as I had not finalized airfare...and it paid off, I think.I thought the price I was quoted at time of reserving was to jump to 269 starting 12/25, but I just got off the phone with starwood club and they say we have the rate of 169. At least that is what I was just told. Sounds too good to be true...and central reservations is closed, and I tried the Dolphin direct but they said that my ressie is too far out to check, to call back central ressies in the a.m.,,,but now I am VERY curious. I have the ALLEARS rate from 12/16-12/24...lakeview which I am pleased with also. Anyone?

We are checking in on the 17th and staying until the 27th I have been told that the rate change goes into effect on the 24th. I was first told $269.00 for the 24,25, & 26 then when my husband called back to book the rooms they said $305.00 so I am going to call back today and see what is going on. The last two years we have stayed at the Dolphin for Christmas and the rate stayed the same the entire stay but this year it is changing during our stay. My husband ask the girl making the reservation about keeping the same rate as we have done in the past and she said they could not do that this year, but I am going to call today and see what the actual rate is. Please keep the board posted on what you find out.

hmmmmm, I called this a.m. and was told by Dolphin reservations that we do indeed have the ALLEARS rate...149 lakeview thru 12/24, and starting 12/25,26, 27 it is 169! I have 269 written down, yet my confirmation letter that came is only dated thru the 149 rate on the 24th...very odd, but Im not complaining! I asked to have another conf. letter sent out verifying these rates. We had 99 a night 12/20-23(checked out 24th) last Christmas thru Travelzoo, but do remember being told that starting 12/25 the rate would change last year also, at least with the promo we had. It would be so awesome if we could get that 99 rate again!I guess keep calling back...I booked thru the Dolphin directly and then gave them our SPG # for our points. My card was just a reg SPG., but DH turned to Gold status on his 2 days ago so we called and switched the ressie to his #...not sure if that had anything to do with the rate change or not....made the ressie 2 weeks ago, so I wouldn't think so....sending good vibes and PD your way!
BTW, not sure if this is true or not, but when I was on w/starwood last night they said hotel was booked for those dates so I was very lucky to have booked when I did. Now maybe just that rate was gone...I can't imagine the entire property is sold out this far in advance...if it is, we better take some lessons in crowd control!

Last xmas week we got the Swan for $149 teachers rate from 12/28-1/02/04. It was the only resort at WDW(I know its a Westin) that had a discount with a check-in after 12-24. I booked it in September 03.

DonaldsGrl103, I am not sure how we rec'd that rate...that's what's concerning me. When I booked the ressie, applied the ALLEARS code for the 149. I was told it was valid thru 12/24. Starting 12/25 it would change to 269. I said o.k. as I wanted the room, and was hoping a discount would come out, or would adjust our budget accordingly....wasn't sure what, but wanted to make sure we had a roof over our heads! I rec'd our confirmation letter and it only showed the 149 rate thru 12/24...no info on the 25,26, and 27. So I called to check on it and that is when I was told the rate increases from 149 to 169...I asked them to check again, and I was told that is my rate. Then they apologized that it would increase. I was thrilled that it was at 169. Like I said, the only thing I can think of that may have affected the rate is the ALLEARS code, perhaps it offered a discount after 12/24...just not the same...or when we switched SPG number to DH gold status card...but I do not think that changes a rate..maybe moves you into getting best rate available at the time? Really not sure, but can't wait 'till I get the new conf letter in the mail so I have it in writing!

Can you tell me what number you are calling? I am not getting the 169.00 rate, i have subcribed to all ears ,but i keep getting that there are no discounts out yet, i tried central res. and the dolphin, can someone help? BTW, we are checking into the dolhin on the 29th but can make it earlier if a discount would apply. Thanks so much!!!!

We used 1-800-227-1500.....but what's even MORE strange is the rate listed for ALLEARS is 162.50 after 12/25...and we have 169...I am not going to change mine, but I REALLY do not know where that rate came from Maybe the timing to use the allears code has expired? Sorry not of more elp...did you try the ent card rate? It may help a little....at least you are finding availabiity.

I'm also staying at the Dolphin from Dec 17-24 and I got an AP rate of $149.00 for the first four night and 182.50 for the last 3 nights. They told me there was a rate change midway thru and they do not carry the rate you check in with thru the whole stay like Disney does. Even the chart on ALLEARSNET says there is a price change on December 21. It does say the rate should be 162.50, but I was told that because the Dolphin will completely renovated by then the rate would be 182.50. I think I'll call to verify my rate.

I do not understand why everyone keeps getting different stories, but I truly believe it depends on the person you talk to when you call. We have the Government rate of $149.00 until the 24th then it jumps to $269.00. We are checking in on the 17th and checking out on the 27th. The ALLEARS rate for 12/21 through 12/31 standard view shows $162.50 on the ALLEARS website, I do subscribe to the site but still did not get that rate. However I am not going to give up, I plan to call back and speak to someone else and see what I can find out. If the person who answers does not give me a good reason for all this confusion then I am going to ask to speak to a manager. We have stayed at the Dolphin the last four visits to Disney and this time we have two rooms booked I do not see why they could not give us the rate of $162.50 for the last three nights.

BTW, I notice someone said they do not keep the same rate as Disney does if there is a rate change during your stay, however on this site on the information sheet about the Dolphin I thought it said they did, I could be wrong but that is what I thought.

o.k. our flights ahve changes so we are now arriving 12/18 and had the Dolphin booked for the 16th in case we needed flights that day...ANYWAY...called to see what would occur by checking in on the 18th, and Agent said I will lose the 169 EXPEDIA RATE for 12/25,26 27...that it will go up to 269!
First off, I NEVER booked under Expedia...I don't even know how! I have never used EXPEDIA in my life! So now I do not know what to expect...Agent told me I do not need any special ID, card, anything...but need help from those whe have booked Expedia rates! Secondly, I kept asking why my rate changes at all since i WILL STILL BE ARRIVING before the 25th, just knocking 2 days off in the beginning...why would that change the rate I already have confirmed? After several tries at explaingin, she sid that she noted inour file that a later arrival is likely and that htere is to be NO RATE CHANGE made to the ressie...but boy, am I nervous now!
So, the 169 is an Expedia rate, apparently no longer available as I was being quoted 269 now, but this is really odd....what do I need to know for check in now? Any helpers?
