I have been SO bad..these pics are from 2 weeks ago but I will try to keep this in order...
We had the "crew" over to dig out the walk and fill it back in...
A couple of high school students that KNOW how to work!! In this picture you see the path dug out and filled in with gravel. It was dug out to a total depth of roughly 8 inchs. This is a VERY important step. The foundation must be solid or you will have non stop problems. After being dug out I ran a plate compactor over it several times, wet it down and did it again. It was then filled with the gravel and once again ran over with the plate compactor. A plate compactor is a rental tool, not cheap but worth it's weight in gold on this size project. It looks like this:
