UPD: 07-17! A Princess, a Tinker Fairy, and an Artist! - A Princess Half Marathon TR!

Haha, it was totally at that line where I thought that she'd make an awesome running villain. Mother Gothel is also high on the list too. Maybe I'll do mother gothel and have Stormy dress up as Flynn for the kids races. :hyper: Tangled is one of his favorites. <3 Haha, I saw someone wearing a wig for PHM, and I about died when I passed them, thinking about how hot it is. You'll have to find a sports jersey or something to make a cape not awfully hot. Thanks! Yup, I made it. <3 And the Evangaline and Mama Odie shirts from the previous days. :) I loved it! And it was less than $20, totally worth it. pixiedust:

I am totally jealous of your sewing skills. I can sew a straight(ish) line and that's about it.

Mother Gothel is one of the creepiest villains IMO. She doesn't just hurt she psychologically breaks Rapunzel down.

I will have to think about the cape. I think a lightweight fabric would be fine. Maybe something sparkly too. I'll hit the fabric store sometime and see what looks doable if that's what we decide. Don't want to pressure you into a costume (been on the pressures aide many times lol). I am honestly not picky and will be fine with anything.

I saw a blog about how Beast and Gothel were the same villain, cuz they both held their princesses hostage, but I think there's a lot more going on to Gothel being a villain than just keeping her in a tower (the psychological stuff, like you said). Also, they kept insisting that Tangled was Pixar, even after being corrected in the comments, so I couldn't take is seriously. :rotfl2: But it seems to be a popular comparison.

If you really really wanted to do Fairy Godmother/Cindy, I'd be cool with it, although Cindy's never been one of my top princesses. :)

Oh, oh! What about Bo Peep/Jessie? :O Both would be easily recognizable and pretty fun. <3

Hmmmm but the Beast had a kind heart underneath, Gothel was pure evil.

That would be adorable too! I am not set on any character. Plenty of time between now and the race to decide.

Yeah, there was something about how Belle's love redeems Beast and Rapunzels condemns Gothel. It's been a while since I read it. I just regoogled it and skimmed. http://thehathorlegacy.com/pride-and-posession/ If you're interested. :)

Haha, yeah. It's so faaaar. :( Which I guess is good, though. Lots of time for you to heal up and be 1000% for the race! :cutie:

One of the things I forgot while typing up the last update. While we were pleased with our hair cutter as she handled Stormy with an expert hand, was super professional, friendly, engaging, and all around amazing...she sort of butchered his hair...It's finally grown out that it doesn't look too bad, but man. It was yikes the first couple weeks after...It's partly our faults, we forgot the picture I had printed off and did a poor job describing what we wanted, but on top of that, it was uneven alllll over his head. Luckily, it's just hair!

I was still a bit blah when I woke up, it had been a long day! But I was not about to miss my much sought after dinner reservation at Be Our Guest! We also had a fastpass for Tales with Belle that I wanted to use too. I dragged my butt out of bed, got dressed and we were off!

It was dark when we got there (it's so strange thinking about how it was only 6:30 or so when it was getting dark when now it's staying dark until 8:30 or later!) and a bunch of the paths were closed off for the parade. Oh no! We weren't sure how to get to Beasts castle, so stopped and asked a nice cast member for directions. We were cutting it very very close (are you seeing a pattern with us? ), and got to the gate with about a minute to spare.

Hurried shot of Eric's Castle on the way through.

I'm absolutely in love with the perspective they worked in.

IMG_0603_zps438360b1.jpg

We were here! Eeee!

IMG_0611_zps321dd8a6.jpg

Waiting on the bridge to be seated.

We were seated super quick! And in the main room! So exciting.
IMG_0617_zps8e9156a5.jpg

At one point, I want to eat in the West Wing too, hehe.

IMG_0615_zps689038f2.jpg

We were right next to the snowing window. I gotta say, for as desperate as we were to escape the winter, this was lovely.

IMG_0614_zps65e3aec8.jpg

Pretty folded rose!

IMG_0618_zpsaa308c2c.jpg

Little Stormy, checking out the menu. What shall I haaaaave....

I didn't think our waiter was bad, but he wasn't very friendly. He was basically just polite (there were a lot of people, so I gave him a pass). He took our order and after a small wait, our food arrived!

IMG_0625_zpscfef191c.jpg

I had gotten the Pan-seared Salmon on Leek Fondue, served with Creamy Saffron-crushed Potatoes. I was really looking forward to a good salmon, and it didn't disappoint, but I admit, I was sort of taken in by the description of saffron-crushed potatoes (I mean, come on. SAFFRON. Do you know how expensive that is??) They were delicious, but I guess I don't know what saffron tastes like, because they were really just kind of tasty potatoes, but nothing overly amazing. The leek fondue was, though.

IMG_0626_zpsdd6c2b2b.jpg

Baloo got the Chicken Breast Provençal, Pan-seared and simmered in a rustic blend of Heirloom Tomatoes, Olives, White Wine, and fresh Herbs with Seasonal Vegetables and Roasted Fingerling Potatoes. I hate olives. :rotfl: What a jerk. I do not know what were on the potatoes Baloo had/how they were cooked, but they were AMAZING. SOSOSO good. I kept eating them off his plate. Everything else was really tasty too, but those potatoes. OMG.

We were paying out of pocket for this meal, so we had Stormy eat off our plates. We knew he was a fan of chicken, so Baloo kept giving him bites of his, but at one point he tried my salmon. It's like a lightbulb went on. We discovered that we had another fish eater at BOG! He kept coming back for more salmon, and was sad when it was gone.

Sad until...

The dessert tray came around!
IMG_0627_zps36a2a141.jpg

Naturally, we got the Grey Stuff.
IMG_0628_zpse5376999.jpg

Yaaaay! Worth the wait! I want some right now.

After dinner was done and paid, we explored a little.
IMG_0629_zpsbb35f408.jpg

IMG_0630_zpsd9b0ead2.jpg

This is where we would end up sitting for lunch when we came back for day 2 of Magic Kingdom. Gorgeous! I can't say enough about the beauty and detail work in there. It's breathtaking.

Next up, it was time to meet Beast! He would walk back and forth between the dining hall, when he had his breaks, and he was announced each time, which was pretty cool.

IMG_0631_zps9c248b5c.jpg

Waiting for Beast.

IMG_0634_zpsb6309869.jpg

Stormy was unsure of what to think in regards to this furry creature. So he just sort of stared (beats crying!).

Last on our list was Enchanted Tales with Belle! Even at 8pm, the standby time was somewhere in the 75 minute range. Protip. If you HAVE to do this attraction, for the love of Disney, use a fastpass on it. It is NOT worth the wait in line. Super cute, yes. Worth a 75+ minute wait? That's a big fat heck no.

I told Baloo a bit about it before going in, that you start in Maurice's cottage and get "transported" to Belle's library. Baloo was very flippant and replied that he wasn't going to be impressed unless a door actually maaaagically appeared in front of him.

Disney didn't disappoint! And Baloo totally ate his words! :cool1:

IMG_0640_zps671e22fd.jpg

A before shot of the magic mirror you stand in front of. I didn't manage an 'after' shot, but the frame of the mirror basically comes undone and the mirror widens to be big enough to walk through! It's pretty cool. I looked over after and Baloo had his mouth open a bit, composed himself, and said "Yeah...yeah, that's pretty good."

They cast the parts for the story. Baloo got to be a suit of arms!
IMG_0644_zps59270f34.jpg

It ended up being a bit of a glorified meet and greet, but it was still fun. Stormy is a bit of a mommy-daddy's boy. What I mean is, whoever is not near him at that very second is the one he desperately needs to be around. So he kept trying to squiggle off my lap and get to Baloo during the 'show'. Which Belle seemed to think was adorable, and we ended up getting called up first for pictures.

ETWB2_zpsed8ffb5a.png

Not so sure about this dad...

ETWB5_zps1fbd5ef8.png

Oh hey, lookit the pretty lady!

Our evening plans were completed and Stormy decided he was done for the night. Magic Kingdom had extra hours, but we were ready to call it a day. I wanted a nice long sleep before the next day.

MK1_zpse13f265c.png

Good night, Magic Kingdom! We will be back! But first we'll go to Hollywood Studios!!

yikes! i'm getting behind on updates! stormy looks so cute sitting in the chair for his haircut, but looks so grown up in the pic at BOG after. i'm sorry to hear she didn't do a great job, but I feel the same way--it's only hair and will grow back.

love the night pictures--I ADORE the park lit up at night!

loved your tiana waitress dress! it looks great! you really should be happy thought it was a uniform, as weird as that sounds. it looks just like the movie!

and yay for awesome CMs! stormy looks so happy with his bell and apples.

Haha, I think I'm behind on your PTR too. I gotta catch up! You can get the Free Dining stuff tomorrow, right? I hope you get into the hotel you want! :hyper:

I know, I was sad to see the curls go. He's a little man now. My babbbbyyyyy!

I love nighttime at the park too! We didn't get nearly enough time of it, hopefully next year we'll be able to stop and breath for a little bit, since Stormy should be old enough to hold still. I hope. :rotfl:

Haha, thanks. <3 The day of, I was pretty irritated about it, but I was hot and tired. On a normal (not having run 13 miles, lol) day, I would have let it roll off my back. But that day it got really frustrating. "I'm wearing a medal, green flip flops (I had my recovery sandals on), holding hands with the guy next to me and pushing a stroller! How can you mistake me for a CM?!?"

I was so happy for the CM! Stormy was so much better the rest of the day, and I don't really remember any major meltdowns past that the next days either. :woohoo:

Hi! Just caught up on your TR!! Congrats on the PHM!!! I'm really wanting to do this in 2015 and have a couple questions for you (if you don't mind :))
1. I think you arrived on Thursday and attended the expo. What time did you go to the expo and how crowded was it at that time? Also, did you feel like they were sold out of many items or sizes??
2. You started in corral J, did you submit a time and if so what was your time? And how many corrals were there? I've never ran any officially timed events and trying to determine if I should try to get an official time or not...
3. Where does everyone get these fabulous costumes?? Did you make it yourself bc I am so not talented to do this!!!

Thanks for your help!!

Oyes, I mind terribly. :rotfl:

Yup! I arrived on Thursday. I'd say we got to the expo maybe around 2pm? Between 2 and 4 for sure. I'm a bit averse to any size crowd, so to me it was crawling with people and I was on 'near panic attack' mode, but I think it wasn't nearly as crowded as it could have been (every line we waited in was no more than 5-10 mins long), it was made worse for us by having our toddler who REALLY didn't want to be there. :rotfl2: I didn't see a few things I wanted (mugs/travel mugs and headbands), and when I got to the "I did it!" shirts, they were running low. They still had the Princess Dooney and Bourke purses when I was there, but I heard they sold out within a couple hours after we left. They still had a few magnets and mickey vinylmations and other not hot ticket stuff in the souvenirs tent after the run.

I did submit a time, 1:20 for a 10k (13min/mile). I submitted it on the very last day I could, and I think there were a couple corrals that had people with the same submitted time as me. They look at time as well as when you submitted it (first come first serve, basically, so ideally you want a time to submit when you register). There were 16 corrals total (A-P). If you think you can maintain the 16min/mile pace then I guess there's no need to? I maintained just under a 16 min/mile WITH stops (3ish potty breaks and 3+ pictures stops), but I was glad to have the cushion of people/corrals behind me.

Oh, all over! I got my skirt from https://www.etsy.com/shop/LilyBombAthleticWear (and there are tooooons of stuff on etsy! just search "running costume" ), although I'll be investing in one or more sparkle skirts ( http://sparkleskirts.com/ ) and then I got my shirt from Athleta and my sister had drawn the lily pad flower thingy for me and I made an iron on transfer and put it on the shirt. :) I'm already plotting out a Jessica Rabbit costume. <3 There are lots of FB groups to join, I'm in:

And there's lots of costume talk (especially as it gets closer)
Oh also! Check out the Pretrip report side here, there's a few Princess 2015 threads (Check out the Cupcakes!!), we love to help with costumes!

Ahh!! Thank you so much!! You were super helpful ;) I'm setting high expectations and going to attempt the glass slipper challenge in 2015!! A 10k is the longest I've ran so far :s

I'm trying for the GSC in 2015 too. :D 2014 was my first disney run and my first half marathon, so I thought I only wanted to tackle the half, not both half and 10k, but once we got there, I felt like I totally could have done both. I hope to see you at both, if you're already doing 10ks, I'm sure you can do the GSC. :cool1:

Stormageddon!!

Haha now I need to read beyond post 1.
Ohiiiiiiooooo *narrows eyes* :rotfl:
Man, when we went to Disney for our Honeymoon, we ran into at least 5 families from OH and each one reacted the same when we said we were from MI (one kid in the family said "MOM. THEY SAID THE BAD WORD." ) Which is super ridic, cuz we don't even watch.....football? Is that where the rivalry comes from? Or any other sport, really.

Anyway! Welcoooome! :wave2: I'm glad someone got the Stormy thing. <3 I figured there'd be a FEW Whovians on here.

Oh no! Dropped to page 3! :rotfl: Guess that's what happens when I fall off updating.

It's starting to get to those awful, busy months (probably for everyone). We've started getting ready for Stormy's birthday (end of this month. He'll be 2! :scared1: )

Working on an update.

For now, have my finished Princess Medal Holder:
CDD566E0-26AA-41F3-AC78-48F54F738682_zpsmv4kzu9g.jpg

I don't know if I like how it came out...The plan is to add more medal hooks as I do more disney races, but until then, it's pretty off balance.

I also signed up for the Mackinac Island Lilac 10k run! (And Stormy will be doing the kids race. <3 It didn't say how long it was, so hopefully it's not too long...We might be carrying him. :rotfl2: ) It's the first weekend in June, I'm so excited. :hyper: Lilacs are my favorite flower (they were in my wedding bouquet) and it's my birthday present, I turn 30 this year. One of my college friends is going with us too, I haven't seen her since my wedding (2010), pretty excited for that too. :) Besides Disney, up north is one of my favorite vacation spots (my grandma has a cottage an hour south of The Bridge, so I used to spend at least a week up north every summer growing up!)

As you may have figured out by now, my family are not early risers. I think it was around 9:30 or so when we got up for our Hollywood Studio day and around 11 when we finally got there. Hey, I just ran 13.1 miles the day before! I get a break. :lmao:

Stormy was getting his morning picture thing down.
IMG_0649_zpscd0b5d53.jpg

Ok, Mom. Now let's get going!

When we'd gotten back from PHM the day before, this towelgami was on my bed, and I moved it to the window with the other decorations.
IMG_0651_zps7f95b45a.jpg

IMG_0653_zps36d548b1.jpg

Dark and foreboding clouds gathering around Tower of Terror? Excellent!

IMG_0654_zpsf3810608.jpg

Is this always here, or was it because of the Flower and Garden thing? Anyone know? I like it either way. I assume it's always there because of the brooms.

We wandered around the gates for a bit, but I already knew what I wanted to do first. Or rather, what I wanted Baloo to do first. Last trip, we skipped Animation Academy, because Baloo didn't think it'd be all that great, but I read about it from other TRs and decided it'd totally be something he'd like doing (Spoilers, I was right!)

See, Baloo draws. A lot. I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to see how bad he was at the Disney style (he is more of an "anime/comic" style). We weren't in time for the 12:00 session, but got in line for the 12:30 one. Darnit, waiting!

We finally got in and sat down.
IMG_0658_zps6629cb5e.jpg

My station! We got a front row seat. Yay being first in line!

IMG_0657_zps37aaac04.jpg

Our animator gave us a choice of Goofy, Genie and...a third, I forget to pick from. My group chose Goofy (I voted Genie). Baloo really wanted to draw a princess. Oh well, maybe next time!

It was a lot of fun! I'm (apparently) awful at simple shapes and directions, heh. So here's my Goofy:
IMG_0660_zps2d0979d0.jpg

I mean, you can tell it's Goofy, right? Lol!

Baloo held Stormy on his lap, and in between instructions (which HE completed quickly and easily! Jerk...) he let Stormy scribble on the page.
This was the outcome (remember. He drew this with A SQUIRMY TODDLER ON HIS LAP. WHO WAS TRYING TO GRAB THE PENCIL.)
IMG_0659_zps264e2c12.jpg

Dangit, Baloo.

I guess the instructor had seen Baloo and Stormy "collaborating" on their drawing, and came over to inspect it, announcing that there was a very young artist in our midst. She looked a bit surprised when she came over to inspect "Stormy's" drawing.

"Look at what this little man did, with his dad's help!" She held up the drawing for the whole class to see, while saying how great it was! (Of course, while saying how talented little Stormy was)

Baloo couldn't help but get a liiiittle smug. I saw his chest puff out, I swear.

After going on about his drawing, she grabbed the one she had done and signed it to Stormy (telling him to "Stay Goofy") and gave it to us! How cool!

Here's Baloo's and hers side by side, for reference.
78BEF2B8-EAAE-40C8-AD11-3F721B38A4B8_zpsvq760iqm.jpg

So that's the story of The Artist. We already knew Baloo was an artist, but he certainly enjoyed the attention for it!

Next, we checked out the gift shop!
IMG_0663_zps3fa44491.jpg

But Mom...I REALLY WANNA TOUCH IT!

Next up was Lunch!

We had planned to go to Min and Bill's Dockside Diner, because AllEars had an outdated menu that had some sort of cone sammich that sounded fantastic. We got there and it was all frankfurters and sausages. Boo. They said the cone sammiches had been phased out a few months ago.

So we decided to give ABC Commissary another shot! During our Honeymoon trip, we ate there for lunch and it was pretty awful. I got the blandest, driest, chicken sandwich ever, and Baloo got a pretty standard hamburger. I'd seen SO MANY positive reviews, though, while trying to find where to eat for Hollywood Studios, so we had kept it in mind. We decided to go there for lunch. We SHOULD have gone to Studio Catering Co, which was the other place we wanted to try, but assumed they'd still be open later. They were not. They closed at 5. Ah well. Always next trip! We also wanted to go to Starring Rolls for our snack and missed them being open as well. Basically, if it was food, we had no luck all day!

IMG_0664_zps571579c6.jpg

Entrance!

Stormy was asleep by now, so we had a lovely wait in line (for once...)

We ordered and got our food, then went to find somewhere to sit. But where?? So many open seats!! (Yay! Even though we only ate on the ground a couple times, I was apparently quite traumatized by it. :rotfl2: Because every time there was ample seating I got REALLY REALLY excited)

I spotted this poster and it was a done deal:
IMG_0670_zps208d2dc3.jpg

Yay, Regina!

What were our meals??

Well more fish, naturally!
IMG_0667_zps1d8f0ce4.jpg

Couscous Quinoa & Arugula Salad with Salmon
This was super filling, I don't think I finished it all (and we totally toted it around the rest of the day). Soooo much quinoa, and the salmon was quite tasty, although I would have preferred it warmer. And I got a "seasonal" cupcake. I think it was just chocolate or vanilla, with the pretty decorations (white chocolate).

IMG_0668_zps36f0397a.jpg

Baloo got a burger, but he said it was WAY better than last time. He got the: 1/3 lb Angus Cheeseburger with Horseradish Sauce and Fried Shrimp
served with Apple Slices or French Fries with the Strawberry Parfait.
It said it was sugar free, and I ended up really enjoying it! I just hope they didn't mean "splenda filled" when they say sugar free. It wasn't super super sweet, so I don't think so...

After lunch, we had just enough time to make it to the next showing of the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular! Stormy woke up just as we were getting settled in, and was greeted by:

IMG_0672_zps827571c5.jpg

FIRE

IMG_0688_zps524c83db.jpg

Awesooooome!

IMG_0673_zpsf30766e0.jpg

Oh no, look out for the boulder, Indy!

IMG_0689_zps2528f75d.jpg

MORE fire!

We checked out the gift shop and I picked up a little Indiana Jones hat car antenna for my brother, who is an avid Indy fan (as well as a Geology/Archeology major. He...wants to be Indiana. He probably will be too. )

Next up:
IMG_0695_zpsa2cac3d2.jpg

You know, I forget the name. Great Movie Ride?

IMG_0696_zps0121646f.jpg

It's the "not fire" ride....Snore, Mom.

IMG_0699_zps4dc4a3c5.jpg

Uh oh! Getting hijacked!

IMG_0705_zps724f6acf.jpg

Follow the yellow brick road!

IMG_0706_zps4268a3d1.jpg

Outside the Chinese theater!

Next, we had a Fastpass for Star Tours! It was down for refurbishment when we were there for our Honeymoon, so Baloo didn't get to go on it and was sad, so he was really looking forward to this!

Love your medal holder!!! It's awesome!! :)

Fun update! I've yet to make it to Animation Studios.......

So jealous of his drawing skills. I can only draw a stick figure.

One if the good things with FP+ is you don't have to be at HS at rope drop to get on Toy Story. Did y'all ride that? Or is that coming in the next update?

love your medal board! I think it looks great!

I've never done the animation class, but i'm not even going to try until the girls are old enough to sit through it. you were very brave to take a toddler in! I think your goofy looks good! but baloo and my DH should hang out because they can draw!!! baloo's, done even with a squirming kid helping, is giving the animators a run for her money! i'm so jealous of that artistic ability because I can not do it....sigh....

Been a while since your last update. Everything ok?

Haha, Yay, I'm missed! :cool1:

Yeah, we're good. Just got back into working out regularly, finally (Daily Burn, on week 3 of a 21 day Inferno Challege. Ugh.) and Stormy's bday is on Monday, ( :scared1: ) so I've been scrambling to prepare for that. And my cousin is getting married on Sat. SO MUCH TO DO.

Which reminds me that I haven't picked up a gift for them yet.

Dangit. :rotfl:

The next 2 days are my last minute party prep stuff, but I know I'm gonna want to take my mind off it for a bit, so I'll try for an update then. :)

Thanks!

This was our first time doing the drawing workshop, but we'd walked through Animation studios before (last time they had a bunch of stuff up for Tangled and I REALLY wanted to see it <3 I have a picture somewhere of a silk flower model for Mother Gothel's flower. :) )

So jealous of his drawing skills. I can only draw a stick figure.

Haha, me too! I was all proud of my drawing, cuz it was the best I'd done, and I look over, expecting his to be a mess, cuz of Stormy and was all "WHAT."

Naw, we didn't get to Toy Story this time around. I had used our top tier fast pass for Fantasmic, which was a mistake, because it only guaranteed us a spot, not a good one (I guess they've revamped it now and the FP+ are in a special section? That's what it sounds like anyway)

love your medal board!

Thanks!

We only braved it with him because he loves scribbling too, so we were about 90% sure we could easily distract him and get through the whole class.

I remember seeing some of your DH's drawings in your TR. I was jealous of his skills too, lol!
