Upcoming swaps...

I'd also love to do a park swap or a Sea World/Universal swap. I am always looking for new stuff for my park books!

a quick question...what is a sea world (or any other place/amusement) swap? can someone please explain?

fyi...i've only joined one swap thing, which is a card swap. so i really don't know much about swaps.

anyways, any explaination would be greatly appreciated. am interested in another swap...thanx! :flower:

I'm new to this too and would like to know how it works. Do you all get the same, or a random bunch of stuff? :confused3

a seaworld (or any other park/place) swap is a swap that has to do with that particular place. Depending on who hosts it, you would have groups of 5-20 people and you would make things that went with the particular place. for example: disneyworld is usually broken down into each park and you would each make something that went with that park, so for magic kingdom, someone might make 10 castles, someone else would make 10 main street titles, someone else might make 10 journal boxes, etc. Then everyone mails their stuff to the person who is hosting the swap and she will sort them into groups and mail them back out to everyone. So you end up with a bunch of stuff to use. They are fun to do. :) hope this made sense, it's early and I haven't had my orange juice yet. maggie

As long as they aren't soon, I'd be interested in:
Disney parks
embellishments (shopping ;))
color (that was great!)
ribbon

If we were to do a zoo/aquarium swap I'd be interested, but not if it was specific to Sea World/San Diego as I've never been & probably will never get there.

Question about the yarn swap...do you mean just plain yarn? What do you do with the yarn in your books? I've used what DD calls the "hairy" yarns like Fun Fur, Boa, etc & really like them. They're quite interesting...but the plain yarn? Just curious...

The yarn swap was for one of the yarn lines that had some texture to it, some were plain colors, some were varigated (sp?).

You can use the yarn on cards, tags, etc. I am still looking for it--it was on a scrapbook site I was checking out. I thought I bookmarked it, but evidently didn't.

I can't participate until after Christmas, but I'd enjoy doing another color swap, the Sea World/Aquarium swap, Universal swap. Maybe we could just do a "miscellaneous swap", and have maybe 5 or 6 in each group under each theme. I imagine we could fill up a Sea World, Universal, zoo, aquarium, color, or whatever group that way. Then people could just pick and choose from the "main swap" for the theme they want to do. I wouldn't mind hosting a Universal swap or Sea World swap later if we have that much interest in it.

I really like the idea of the fiber swap! I have no fibers :guilty: But I do have ribbon. I could still use more though  Sounds great!!!

Woooah! This is all way too advanced for me :earseek: Before I participate in a swap I'd better find out what all these things are and what you use them for? Journal boxes???? Bottle tops? (OK I know what they are but why??)

Let me go back to beginners :teacher: , I'll come back when I know what's what! :wave2:

Journal boxes are supposed to have at least a 2x2 area for writing your journaling on. I don't know about you, but I always have more than that to write! LOL They're supposed to be double matted I think - or is it just embellished twice?

I don't get the bottle caps thing either. I've seen them, they're cute, but :confused3 They're just a bit too bulky for my taste I guess. (And yes, I know you're supposed to flatten them. :rolleyes1 )

Have you looked at the links of photos for the elements from past swaps? I think they were in stickies at the top of the forum. They're not labeled as to which element they are, but I think you'll get a good idea just by looking through. Oh - sometimes the photo "mats" look similar to journal boxes...but of course you could use them for either really.

The links are listed in the first post of this thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=859482

A fiber swap would be cool - I would assume you would buy ONE color and cut into 2 yard pieces and then get xxx number of colors back, right?

I wouldn't mind hosting another 37 cent swap if there is interest in it again.

i would like to participate in a fiber/ribbon swap. also, i really liked the 37 cent swap as well. would be interested in any kind of swap like this.

Oooooh what's the 37 cent swap??? When are we going to START all of these swaps, I am fairly PANTING at the ideas!!!

(Maybe it will motivate me to clean off my OLD scrapbook table and finally move to my NEW scrapbook area-<sigh> I am so lazy! LOL)

I hosted a 37 cent swap a while back. You just sign up along with a short list of what you want/need (Disney, baby stuff, brads, etc.) and you mail to your swap buddy stuff from their list that can be mailed for one first-class stamp. It's basically a way to clear out some things you may have too much of or don't want/need anymore.

What a great idea! I need to check what the postage is from here to US :goodvibes

Has anyone decided what kind of swaps we are going to do next and when, and who will host and blah blah blah? LOL I am toooo excited!! Anything that gets my mind off of Thanksgiving, upcoming DL trip, Christmas, etc....!!

My favorite swap so far has been the bazzill page kit! I would be up for another round or two of that. Not sure about doing another disney one. Since I have aquired quite a bit over the years.
But I would love a 12 month season one as a page kit. Break it down into the seasons and then break that down even further. But keep it to 6 people in each group.
That was a prefect number to do.
