Upcoming Spirit Week at school: Camouflage Day?

One of the days for my DS's school is camouflage day, as wear your camo items to school.

This strikes me as -- strange. I think it's tied to the fact we're doing a fundraiser for our troops, which is great. But we will have to skip this day, as we don't even OWN any camouflage.

Does your school do this?

My DD's school has other "school spirit" days but not camouflage. We too don't own any, despite my mother's repeated attempts when it was popular a couple years ago.

I don't find it odd. Our schools usually have "spirit week" like 2-3 times a year. Each day of that week they will have a certain "theme" to dress in. Whether it be twin day, hat day, crazy hair day, sports day (dress in your sports uniform or even just a jersey), backwards day, etc. And usually Friday is their school color day.


Are they just having a "spirit" DAY or does it last all week long? And I don't know how old your child is, but like someone else has mentioned, Walmart/Target will sell camo shirts on the cheap. That would be sufficient.

Since it is at school, just print out a couple of different announcements, stick them on DS's shirt and pants. If anyone asks, he can stand in front of a bulletin board to blend in!

No camo day at our school, but I'd take that over crazy hat/hair day. or PJ Day. Of course having 2 boys who are military fanatics, we have lots and lots of camo in this house.

We have had it in our schools for years.

This year, there were a dozen Sr's that got really creative. Instead of wearing the typical camo clothing for camouflage day, they made up several outfits with sweats and craft paint that blended into the red brick wall, the lockers, the painted cinder block walls. The one kid, made his to look the like the white board in the chem lab. He had it perfect down to the outline the teacher has written on it.

Senior - Camo

DD cannot wait for next year so she gets to wear camo.

I have camo Chuck Taylors and I always get comments about how cute they are.

I just googled those shoes - and I love them! Might have to put those on my birthday list

OP - no, I don't think it's weird. I don't know if I know anyone who COULDN'T come up with some camo to wear. My boys have tons of it, it's sold everywhere.
