Upcoming DVC Expansion?

OK I'll play....

First a clarification...
Is AKL in the game or is out because it's already announced? I'll assume it's out of the runnning.

1- GCV- Did this get announce yet?
2- CRV- It's about time!
3- Another DisneyLAND DVC - 50 units at Disneyland is not enough!
4- EP- They won't be able to help themselves.
5- I'm torn between DLP and Hawaii

My guess is the same but I also had to bold my favorite part of this prediction because 1.) it made me laugh and 2.) while this resort would hold absolutely no appeal for us, the planning work has already been done, so I will begrudingly concede that it does make sense.

I truly hope it is Eagle Pines. I like that location over there and I really liked the plans when they came out with them. I like the large spacious resorts like SSR.

I was told that the GC will house the 50 units of DVC at Disneyland to start. The key wording is, 'to start'. Disney also owns land near the resort, the strawberry fields, that was once rumored to be a waterpark. It is also rumored for DVC out here. Also recently Ed Grier mentioned the cm parking lot at DLR as a spot for a third park, or hotels.
DVC friends of ours that are Club 33 members swear they were told by 'in the know' Club 33 members, that something is brewing for the general areas near Fort Wilderness,River Country, and Eagle Pines.
I am leaning to think Disneyland, Contemporary,Eagle Pines, Fort Wilderness/River Country, and Hawaii are on the list.

The one that I think is out is DLP. They had land, sold it, and there is now a Marriott Vacation Club resort there. If I was going to guess, I would say:

1) AKL
2) DisneyLAND
3) Contemporary (but I don't actually think that it will get built)
4) Eagle Pines
5) Tokyo

Oh Man! I forgot about the STOL site - which might include river country!! That's got to be in the running too! Except I ran out of spots a long time ago. I think it would be an either/or situation with EP and STOL. I think STOL being a combo hotel/DVC would be the winner.

My new revised list...

1- GCV- Did this get announce yet?
2- CRV- It's about time!
3- Another DisneyLAND DVC - 50 units at Disneyland is not enough!
4- STOL - Will win over EP
5- I'm torn between DLP and Hawaii - I really don't know enough to guess about these but I hope Hawaii.

My friends, there is so much to reply to, so in no particular order:

1) AKL (Heheheheheh)
2) DVC Grand Californiam
3) Hawaii (I'm fine thank you!)
4) Eagle Pines - A DUFFERS DVC
5) Jamaiaca/Bahamas/Castaway Cove, get some of the Staples & Beaches Crowds.

Real men *DO NOT* Paint amphibians, although they can love each other in a manly way, so  right back at you Jim.

I am intreguied by the DVC DianeSchlidt. I love the main 'lodge'!

Off the cuff, I never understood that plague of frogs/toads thing in the Old Testament. Never can have enough hoppers as far as I am concerned.

Now flaiming hail, locusts, rinkwide and the death of the first born, I can see how they'd be baaaaaaaaaaaaad, but froggies? never!

Finally, my blue froggie is:

Phylum - Chordata
Class - Lissamphibia
Order - Anura
Family - Dendrobatidae

Dendrobates azureus

Can you find the Hidden Mickey?

Here is a link to the Nashville Zoo (Go figure!) which has a short but fascinating history of these amazing amphibians!

There will be a short quiz tomorrow.

P.S. Bonus question: A group of geese is a gaggle, a group of Cows a herd. What do you call a group of froggies?

Boy I hope they don't ruin the golf course with a big, clunky resort like SSR. While SSR is not my cup of tea, it at least somewhat fits it's location near DTD. It totally wouldn't fit in the wooded remote location of those two golf courses. If they have to put a DVC around the golf course, I hope it's something a little more discreet like OKW. Would they use a golf theme, or would that be for to narrow of an audience?

I generally prefer the hotel-based resorts like BWV, VWL, BCV, VB, and the upcoming AKV, so I am pulling for the CRV and Disneyland. The STOL site would make a great location if they tied it into the EPCOT-TTC monorail, next best thing to CRV. I wonder how bad the noise from the Race Track would be, though? Maybe they would tie it in with some kind of race theme (I can see it now, the NASCAR Villas......:scared1:)

Ft. Wilderness/River Country is interesting, but what would they do with a theme that hasn't already been done at VWL? I guess focus more on a water/lake theme than the woods.

Since we know AKV is a go, I think/HOPE the next 4 will be:
DVC/Disneyland
DVC/Paris
DVC/Tokyo
DVC/Hawaii!
The bold is what my real HOPE is!!!

These are interesting options, but the one I'm really looking forward to is DMnV (dianeschlicht's Minnesota Villas)...in the summer, mostly, of course! Talk about a nice "home resort!"

yes - her home does look great. so these would be a definitely sell out!!!

my guesses

1 AKV (okay done)
2. Cont (well I am still hoping)
3. Disneyland (would love one here)
4. Hawaii
5. Colorodo - okay it is not Minnesota.

6. Paris
7. china where the park is located.

I don't know of 4 but I will guess at 2.

I think CRV will come to light and I bet they will go ahead with EP.

However I really really would like the Poly!

Diane - if we can't get you to stay at the BWV or at the CRV....what are the chances you'll actually visit TOKYO ???? :rotfl: :rotfl2: :confused3 ;)

I rest my case. The man is not well.

Seriously, though...I think it's

AKV - Duh!
CRV - Duh!
GCV - Whoopie for some, does nothing for me, but we have to be sensitive to everyone's needs, and this is definitely a good move for DVC
EP - I think...not real sure

If I have to pick a fifth, thank you very much.

Ooops, I mean if I have to select a fifth resort, I'd say Hong Kong because their economy lives and Paris and Tokyo don't.

P.S. I actually tried to post a serious response last night, but the DIS went all  on me and I gave up and went away.

Sign me up. How about an army? Now lets talk toads.

HBC

HBC's in Upper New York State, and Greenban's in NJ....so that should qualify as one domestic and one foreign, (respectively) shouldn't it?
:teeth:

Trust me, you'd like the Maine part of my location name a lot more than the New York part.

HBC

I think these might be in the future and the last one I think would be so cool

1.Contemporary
2. EP
3.GCV

...and my vision for something different

4....Discovery Island, accessed only by boat with a pirate theme or something a little different than the other resorts. Maybe someone could come up with a better theme.Have a boat go to MK and to a dedicated dock for other transportation to the other parks. I might guess this is a wildlife sacuary now, but with other lake spots, they can always make a new island for DVC right in the middle of everything or add more to the existing island to not ruin the wildlife. It would be original.

Way too simple. A clutch of alligator babies...and a GIG of froggies!:rotfl2:

I'm not sure how much of this is "guess" and how much is "wish" but here goes:

1. Grand Californian
2. Fort Wilderness
3. Disneyland Paris
4. Las Vegas
5. Bahamas

If they really wanted to add a "ski" resort to this points system, I would think they would need a location with a real spring, summer and fall draw. Maybe Jackson Hole (with the Tetons/Yellowstone); Brian Head UT (with Zion, Bryce Canyon and Grand Canyon NPs), or Tahoe (with gaming). The Colorado Rockies are beautiful but the summer may not be as much a draw and the mud seasons are definitely "value" seasons.

he Colorado Rockies are beautiful but the summer may not be as much a draw and the mud seasons are definitely "value" seasons.

Ah, so you've never been to the Rockies...with the exception of mid April to June 1st (Mud Season), the rest of the year is pretty well booked at the resorts. Anyone who thinks Colorado is a winter only destination has never been here. Try booking a resort in July at Vail. Might have better luck booking the BWV during the wine festival :rotfl2:

Ok, here's my list...

AKV (we know)
California (gotta be next)
Hong Kong--they have money to burn, folks....
EP
CRV (down far on the list b/c it will take so long)
Off-site location in a year-round location like the Bahamas

Wow, I managed to come up with SIX! Top that... :goodvibes
