upcoming disneyland trip

Hello All,
I am a regular "poster"on the disney cruise line forum but need a few questions answered about our trip to dl in a couple of weeks.

My mom and I are going and taking my six year old. Haven't been since last October and then we stayed at Grand Californian. This time we are at Disneland Hotel since they had annual passholder rates that were really great/
My question is this: Last time we stayed at this hotel we were in one of the buildings away from the main building. I would love to stay in the main building and be able to see the fireworks. Is there such a room and which area is it in? Also, how far is it to walk to the parks from the hotel? Thanks for any answers and additional tips. Elaine

I could see fireworks when I stayed in the Marina Tower, but the parking lot view left much to be desired for the rest of the time. The Sierra tower has a Downtown Disney and Park view, that is a better bet.

It is a 8-10 minute walk from the DLH to the parks' main gates, but you also have the monorail which takes you right into Fantasyland and Tomorrowland.
