*** Upcoming 2013 Jan to March Disney Discount Offer : Details ***

Sorry, I don't have a Disney visa to call and check for you. I do, however, have time to kill this morning and I like playing with these numbers! :) I think I understand the new deal, based on what others have said, so here goes:

If your parents will use the standard dining plan (1 snack, 1 quick service meal, & 1 table service meal for each night of the reservation), then the new deal (available for you to book next week on 10/10) is a much better deal than the AAA discount. Rather than spending $600 on a gift card for dining you can book the standard dining plan for them with Disney for less than $140. You will lose the AAA discount, but based on the Disney website, your room & park ticket price will go up about $120, so you will "save" around $400 from your current plan. (I'm also factoring in $36 total savings on the park ticket price).

If your parents won't like the standard dining plan--either b/c they won't like the table service meal or the quick service meal then you might be better off switching resorts and getting the room-only discount. The 30% discount on a "preferred room" (closer to main building and bus spots) at POR, CBR & CSR may end up being less than POFQ. If you decide the meal plan deal isn't for you then you may want to ask the folks at AAA to play with the resort location and the room only discount and see what you get. Or call Disney direct after the deal is released next week--I generally find them very helpful.

Thank you for your time and advice.WD1972

It might not be a 25% discount for the room you are looking at. Just tell the CM that you want to price out a few other value resorts. Ask her specifically what % discount you are getting. HTH!! pixiedust:

I had no idea there were different levels of discount - I thought if it said 25% for Movies it would be 25% or not available. Not pleased - still on hold - still feeling stupid for not catching it while I was on the phone with the original person.

thanks for the insight - I'm going to ask about POP and Sports!

Has anyone successfully booked a vacation with this discount (stay play dine) that started on March 7th or prior, but extending into the post March 7th period?

I'm trying to figure out if this works like the old FD plan.

I would think that the offer is date specific since the upcharge for peak season priceing of the DP begins on 3/8 same as the room rates changeing ?

I think this is the most confusing offer EVER!

I don't want to go to the trouble of getting another Visa for this offer and end up changing it for FD. I wonder if this is the new look of offers for 2013.

Then I realized that getting a Visa won't help me because I need to book multiple rooms. (the Visa application trick from the Jan. thread). Oh well, guess I have to wait until the 10th. Boo!

so annoyed - with myself and with the person I just spoke to

Booked AS Movies for 1/7 - 1/16 so 9 nights with the Disney Visa room only discount - she gave me a total of $901.74 ....now looking at it I don't think she applied the Visa discount (so annoyed with myself for not catching it!)

I'm on hold - can anyone run the numbers and tell me if I'm crazy? I went online and without the discount it's $949 so I"m not sure where $901 came from if it's a 25% discount (as on the 1st page of this thread)

help??!

follow up:

held for almost 2 hours before I got someone

Zachary was very helpful. He said that Movies is only a 5% discount and that Music, POP and Sports are all 25%. Interesting since (1st post in this thread) Movies is listed as 25% and Music is not listed in the offer. So switched to Music and went from $949 (no discount) or $901 via my first call and booking Movies to $711 ! for booking Music for the same dates!

Saved almost $200 just by calling back and getting it right.

Hope the above info helps someone and a big thank you to the poster that alerted me to the 'varying' discount system!

Again discount amounts vary significantly not only by resort but also by dates.. And that's always the case.

We all want to understand the promo as static across the date range.. but that's simply not reflective of how they end up working.

That's why Disney uses the "for most nights" wording .. when stating the date ranges.

BUT soooo glad to hear you got something that worked for you!

Yeah.. I'm seeing mixed results visiting the various threads. Some folks are reporting they are getting the discount past the 7th for a couple of days.. but it can be hard to do the math given the rate change on the 8th.

And some others are reporting that they got it for 1 night past the 7th but not two nights..

So.. it really does seem to depend on what resort you have booked, what category of room and how many days past the 7th are in question..

In short -- it does NOT ALWAYS seem to be working like the F/D promo.. but in *some* circumstances it does.

How's THAT for confusing? :confused3

Ok - I want to be able I understand this correctly. These rates, right now, are for Disney Visa holders only, correct? But these same rates will be released to the public on 10/10, right? What about AP rates? When will those be out and will they be any better than these GP ones?

melissarose i got kinda the same package as you..king bed standard room but the week before total $1970 :cool1:

was $1970 the price you got after you applied the discount?! i'd be so happy if i could get it under $2000. seems soooo much less extravagant! lol

Here is what I booked:

3 Adults (includes DS9 - upgraded him to an adult for dining purposes)
March 4th thru the 11th
POR - Standard View Royal Guest Room
8 Day Base Park Tickets
Plus Dining Plan
$2995.15

I was told that the discount is extended for our entire trip. Just to be sure, I had her price out the same time frame (Mon - Mon) but not extending beyond the 7th of March. There was a price difference of about $40.

Also, originally I had DS9 booked as a child and when I called back to have him upgraded to an adult, the package price was exactly the same. The CM checked it twice to be sure it was right.

So that is interesting. My son is eight. I can upgrade him to adult?? Do I just say he is nine Can I say my daughter who is 3 and 3 months is two ?? Or will that not work. Since we are a family of five this would allow us lot more resort options

I am still floored that CR is 35% off and WL is only 25%! That rarely happens! What is up with that?! Anyone know why WL is so low?

I would just talk to the CM when you call. The RO discount for POR is 30%, I think. I've heard as low as 5% though. I think it depends on the amount of rooms they have allocated for the promotion during your trip dates. In all, we saved a greater percentage of money with the package deal than with room only - but that was for a family of 5, park hopper, 8 nights - so your situation will be different. I'm no math major, but I would think that a RO discount might be better for you since you are getting two rooms.

Good luck! pixiedust:

30% is for POR, and the measly 5% is for FQ I think :sad1:

I know, maybe after 10/10 I can stop obsessing about our trip...well, probably not!

I think you got it right--except according to http://www.disneyrewards.com/offers/wdwstayplaydineoct12 you can't get the "kids of all ages" discount at AofA.

I believe that in order to get the regular DP at a value resort you will have to pay the normal upgrade price (about $18 per adult per day), so for 4 adults and 5 nights you'll essentially pay $360 for 20 fewer quick service meals (1 per person, per day) but 20 more table service meals (1 per person, per day). If you won't miss those quick service meals then the $360 price for 5 separate table service meals for 4 adults is a good deal.

I'm hoping to stop my obsession too - but well, not quite positive about it! Then comes all the dining planing - even if we only get the QSDP I will probably plan almost all of our eating places :rotfl:

But THANK YOU for taking the time to answer my post!!! :thanks:

I just have a question - I'm not sure that I understood what you said about the regular DP! So please check if I have it right?!
Rack Rate: $650
Park Tickets kids price: $1040
Reg. DP kids price : $360
= $2050
That is only $73,6 more to go from 20 QS to 20 TS?? Is that right? Or do I have to multiply the $286,4 (4 people*5days*$14,32with) $360(4 people*5days*$18) - so that price to get regular DP will be $646,4?
Then the total price for POP will be $2336,4 - but POR R/FQ is $2412,2... Then I might take POR Riverside or FQ instead!!

Oh no, I didn't say that right. I meant the second thing, so:
Rack Rate: $650
Park Tickets kids price: $1040
QSDP kids price: $286,4
to upgrade to regular DP: $360 = 2336

So, yeah--moderate would be a pretty comparable price if you want the regular dining plan.

Can't decide :p lol....
