UP Top Grossing Movie of 2009

In one weekend "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" took in 80% of the total that it took "Up" to bring in one month.

Not that I didn't like "Up", I did, but it definately will not stay on top long. Between Transformers and Harry Potter, it will definately not hold the top spot.

"Transformers" had a huge weekend and will ultimately overtake "Up". No doubt about that. But "Transformers" has been universally panned as a POS. "Up" has been hailed as one of Pixar's better offerings and therefore will receive a longer shelf-life, not only in theaters around the world but also on BR, DVD, TV and in the Disney parks. The only people who rushed out this weekend to see "Transformers" were the die-hard fans. Having watched 150 minutes of garbage, they won't be rushing back anytime soon. And yes, "Harry Potter" may very well overtake them both. Either way, "Up" was a great film and a successful outing for Disney/Pixar. There's no downside here.

WHAT? Seriously you have some bones to pick. "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" has actually been well received and determined to be actually better then the first.

Then you must be living in a bubble or else in your parent's basement. "Transformers" has been panned by nearly every major critic and the personal reviews online are no better. If you liked it, fantastic. If you want it to remain #1, I suggest you go see it ten million times each week for the next five weeks to keep it there, because I promise you, soon enough, there won't be anyone else in those theaters.

Transformers 2 is currently rocking a 20% rotten from critics...and a 68% fresh from users. I have heard mixed reviews from my friends that were excited for it. There will be no word of mouth.

The orginal Transformers Rocks a 57% and 80% in those same Categories. Nobody thinks it's better than the original.

Um no... You are actually very wrong on this one. Unfortunately for your ridiculous claim, its really easy to prove you wrong.

Let's go to the meta-critic sites.

Rotten Tomatoes has Tranformers 2 at 20%. The original got a 57%.
Just taking into account the non-critics, 1 got an 80%, 2 got 68%

Metacritic gave 2 a 35%. Users gave it a 6.2
1 got a 61% and the users gave it a 7.0

So just taking the two biggest meta sites into account, Transformers 2 is a Piece of garbage and NOT better reviewed than the first.

But please, I'd love to actually see your sourcing for this ridiculous claim. Personally, I think it was a terrible film by one of the worst directors in Hollywood and a bit racist to boot. Unfortunately, we will be subjected to yet another of these wastes of celluloid or hard drive space due to its box office.

I saw Trannys 2 over the weekend. They have dumbed it down to an absurd degree. It's a horrible movie. Who on earth decided the franchise needed farting robots, multiple close-ups of dogs humping each other, graturitous shots of female behinds, and the worst of all, a giant robot with wrecking ball testicles. The sub-plot of Shia going to college could be completely edited out, along with his college roommates, as they were completely unnecessary to the movie. Other than that, the movie is an endless mish-mash of undiscernable robot parts flying all over the screen. It's badly written, badly acted, badly edited, badly directed, and filled with endless continuity errors.

Glad everyone listens to EVERY review as if its gospel...I have some great waterfront property for sale on the moon too, you want to buy it?

As for people who have a hard time "following the robots", its not that hard if you actually engage into the characters. This isn't just with Transformers, but any movie. If you don't feel connected you won't.

As for the "Giant Robot", that would Devastator who is formed from the culimination of the Constricticons, he's not a new character (actually very few are from the movie versus the cartoons).

Now back to your regular scheduled programing of Disney leg humping.

The problem is, it's hard to be engaged in characters that are percieved as nothing more than giant robots. Nothing is used to set them apart except for their designs, which also becomes limited, especially during the final battle when you will see two or three of the SAME ROBOT, even though you just saw one get blown up. The only reason I know that giant robot is Devastator is because I looked it up. Nothing is said about who the character really is apart from it's name said maybe once and the fact that it's bigger than all of them. Yeah, it's a summer movie that's meant to be mindless, but you can only turn your mind off for so long until you get bored.
