Up DVD Confusion

After browsing amazon.com's website, there seem to be three options for the new "Up" DVD.

1. Up Widescreen Single Disc
2. Up Two Disc Deluxe Edition with Digital Edition
3. Up Four Disc Blu Ray Combo pack with Digital Edition and DVD

The shocking thing is that the Blu Ray version is $19.99, whereas the regular DVD Deluxe edition is $1.00 more expensive!!!

I don't have a Blu Ray player, so I am wondering if I will still be able to see the extra features if I get the Blu Ray option?!?!?!?

Does anyone know about this?

I think you will get the discs that are in the two disc version, plus a disc for the digital version for your computer and a blu ray disc (for your future blu ray player?).

Honestly, I don't know if the extra features are only on the Blu-Ray version. That is how it has been in the past though. Does anyone have any experience with the digital copy of a movie? Does it usually have the extra features too?!?!?!?!?! If so, you could put the digital copy on your laptop or other portable media player.

FYI - I found this same set on the Disney site HERE for $34.99. However if you pre-order through Disney, you get a free three-pin set (Carl Fredricksen, Russell and Dug) offer expires November 9, 2009. To me, the amazon.com site is definitely a BETTER deal!

I've already naughtily downloaded Up, yet don't feel bad as I will buy it too, except it won't be out for a long time over here.

One thing I DO like about Disney's releases is the fact you now get the normal DVD version with the Blu Ray, as I like to watch it in bed sometimes but only have a blu ray player in the living room

Man the industry is really pushing Blu-Ray. Even after winning the format war against HD DVD, I don't think it has gained the kind of traction that DVD did when it first appeared.

As for me, I was one of the first on the DVD front, buying my first player in 1997 for $750! But I just don't feel the same urgency that I did for DVD with Blu-Ray. I'd rather just download an HD movie from iTunes and watch it on my 24" iMac. There are just to many other competing technologies this time around and Blu-Ray sales (I believe) reflect that.

So I think that's why Blu-Ray disc's went from $35 to $20, especially this time of year.

I would imagine that most people who own Blu Ray players have ps3s rather than standalone players.
I've never bought a blu ray in nearly two years of having a ps3 but do tend to download things in HD and watch them through my ps3 and HDTV

If they really wanted to push Blu Ray, they would sell the Blu Ray discs at the same price as regular DVD.

With amazon.com selling the Blu Ray for $1 less than regular DVD ... they're kind of "pushing" it into the market.

For the four-disc set, the extras will be on a Blu-Ray disc. You will not be able to view them unless you have a Blu-Ray player. The DVD will contain a copy of the movie, but no extras. The digital copy only includes the movie--no extras, unless they provide them through the new iTunes extra feature (which I've seen no indication of).

FYI, there are some great deals out there for folks buying UP and Monsters Inc on Blu-Ray. Amazon is offering a $10 discount if you buy both, AND another $10 off certain Disney Blu-Rays. I was able to get UP, Monsters Inc, and the new Tinker Bell movie for a total of $45 and free shipping.

In addition, Disney has an $8 coupon for Monsters Inc available on the Disney Movie Rewards website.
