Up, down and all around...a trip we will NEVER forget - COMPLETE 1/19

Once again great updates, you really are a very talented writer!

So sorry about the many bathroom breaks - I really hope that you will be able to enjoy AK much more in January. It is such a beautiful park!

And with regard to Fantasmic: I have seen it twice at DL and never felt like I really need to see it at WDW...

Thank you! :goodvibes

AK really is breathtaking, I had forgotten how detailed it was! It's beyond a typical theme park, you feel like you are literally venturing through another country. I love it!

I believe I have read that Fantasmic at DL is better than at WDW too - not sure what is different though...maybe I'll check it out on YouTube!

WoW!! I think you are one of the top speed posters! I had a great time catching up!
I'm so sorry you weren't over your bug! :sad2: You guys were major troopers to keep going but I know what you mean about thinking "I'm at Disney, don't know when we'll be back."
Yack and Yeti was under construction when we were in AK so it was fun to see your interior pictures and the food looked incredible!
Your EE pictures are really beautiful. We took pictures from that same spot except it was in the morning and the colors are rather washed out so your warm afternoon sun makes it especially nice.
I'm joining the Henry fan club too! He seems like such a good natured little guy! His expressions and delight of all things Disney are cute. :lovestruc
So I am hoping that you are now completely over your bug and won't need to see any more bathrooms! :rotfl:

Magic Killer: The "rough road" you experience is really these chains. But how inventive of Disney!]

I just got caught up.....Great update(s)!!

I believe those chains on the roads on the safari ride are there to clean off the tires of the jeeps so the different animal poop is not transfered from section to section.

Great updates. I can never get to Wolfgang Puck's to see how it is because Earl has a hold on me. I can't think of being in DTD and not letting him fix my lunch. I had that special holiday sandwich during Thanksgiving, and it was so gooood!

I am now raising my right hand, putting my left hand on my Birnbaum's, and saying, "I do solemnly swear that I will stay at Wilderness Lodge someday!"

Looking forward to many more pictures and to hearing all about the adventures!

Better late than never, so I'm joining in now. Love your trip report, especially enjoying it because we're taking our sons in January, one of which will have just turned 1, so your trip is like a preview for me to learn as much as possible about what to do before we go!! And to prepare myself that plans change and ya gotta just roll with it!

Keep it coming!!! popcorn::

I just spent time reading through your TR. I agree with the others, you are a great writer and I LOVE your pics! Can't wait to read more! :surfweb:

I'm really enjoying your report Brooke. I'm suffering with gastro-intestinal issues at the moment, so I know how you felt. I don't know how you toured parks and enjoyed any of the food. Right now I'm eating very little and staying a few steps away from the bathroom!!!!

We're so excited to stay at the Wilderness Lodge in March and we've now booked an extra night at the beginning of our trip at POFQ (instead of POP) with the super-duper discount that just came out! I'm glad I waited to book that first night.

You and your family are so cute - love that little Henry - he's just a doll! I'm waiting patiently for your big reveal (gotta be DVC!).

Wow, you took some great pictures! That is terrible to be so sick on your vacation! I hope things got better for you all.

We only spent a half day at AK that Wednesday. Everyone wanted to get back to use the pool. I accomplished what I wanted to do at AK though. I got to go on Expedition Everest for the first time and sit in the front row. It was a great ride but short. We also enjoyed the safari, which I was unable to go on a couple years ago because I was pregnant. I hope to going on Dinosaur next time. I love that ride.

Great updates!

Great updates! What a neat chocolate box! I am glad Joe was touched...even if he couldn't yet touch them.;) I feel so badly for all of you. Although stomach ills are never fun, coming down with it on vacation is a double bummer. Sorry to hear you guys went through that.

I am glad you really enjoyed Y&Y too. It was one of our favorite finds on our last trip.

Did Henry get a bite of that chocolate?! :lmao: It looks like you guys were really enjoying it! I love the "after" pictures of you guys eating it. Too cute!:cutie:

Thank you for the comments on Henry. :goodvibes I purposely tried to watch him and capture those bright eyes when he saw something new at Disney-it was a ton of fun to see his reactions!

Y&Y was SO pretty! The pictures really don't even do it justice. All the rooms are different and there are a ton of things on the walls to look at. And yep, the food was tasty! Well, as much as we could eat was good anyway.

The sun right at closing time was perfect for pictures, I just wanted to slowly stroll out and take a zillion pictures!

I just got caught up.....Great update(s)!!

Ahhhhh! That makes sense too! Very inventive.

I wanted to try that sandwhich from Earl's, MAN, does it sound good! I'm very happy to hear that it gets a :thumbsup2. Sometime in the future I will have to try it. Earl is on the MUST DO list this trip in January since we missed it in November. WPE is VERY good though. We are planning on hitting DTD a few times this coming trip (details coming soon on it all!), so hopefully we will get WPE and Earl. :woohoo:

MeMom, you are hilarious. :rotfl2: I love your "I do solemnly swear..." You will love WL! I still haven't gotten over to your TR since my time on the DIS has been limited due to Christmas shopping/preparing/family events, I hope you were able to get over there and enjoy the fireplace. :goodvibes

Hello! Welcome, glad to hear you are enjoying it! Rolling with it is key. I had so many plans we didn't get to. There was just no way. But! Seeing your child's reactions to everything, their eyes light up with wonder and awe, there is NOTHING like it! :cloud9: :lovestruc It was truly a magical trip (despite the many, many bathroom trips and becoming BFF with Pepto ).

I just spent time reading through your TR. I agree with the others, you are a great writer and I LOVE your pics! Can't wait to read more! :surfweb:

Welcome! Thank you for the compliments on the TR and the pics. :goodvibes Lots more to come!

We toured very very carefully...;) And thankfully we had the PassPorter maps with the bathroom locations clearly defined!

You will love the WL - it's wonderful! I have more pics of it coming up too.

Thank you for the compliments on Henry too. :)

And DVC? :rolleyes1 ;)

Holy cow, EE in the front seat!!!!!!!! That had to be INTESNE. Can you just ask for the front seat and wait? I just might have to do that...:scared1:

I don't believe Henry has gotten any of the "box chocolate"...I think our chocolate binge time was after he had gone to bed...but that little boy LOVES all things sweet, so I bet he'd be making his loud "YUM YUM!"s if we brought it out. :rotfl:

We hope to hit Y&Y on a near future trip again, it was great! And I love the large selection on the menu, something for everyone and you can go back many times to try all sorts of stuff!

Hi Brook! I just wandered over from the pictures you posted in the WL photo thread!!! Your report is great!!! So sorry for the tummy trouble you guys had! That's no fun!! Henry is adorable!! Can't wait to read more!!

You are such a trouper (trooper?). I had a day like that where I got to take a tour of Valleyfair's restroom facilities. I laugh about it now, but it was such a nightmare. It looks like you had fun, despite all of the not so magical moments.

I just got caught up.....Great update(s)!!

I believe those chains on the roads on the safari ride are there to clean off the tires of the jeeps so the different animal poop is not transfered from section to section.

Another reason for the chains is to ensure that the animals don't escape. Many of them cannot cross over the chains. (or at least that is what we were told.)

Great update!
I always get that way at disney world.
I HATE IT.

I'm just like "okay, time to ride everest ... oh wait, BATHROOM BREAK!"

I left off with us taking more Pepto and falling asleep after our day at AK.

This day both Joe and I had been looking forward to quite a bit. Our only plans were for 2 ADRs (Boma breakfast, Whispering Canyon Cafe dinner) and the DVC tour. This is Joe's sort of ideal vacation day, no real plans. He doesn't mind the agenda I put together, but really likes to have at least one "down day".

We didn't set an alarm, thinking Henry would wake us up. Well, he did, but he decided to sleep in a bit that morning! We woke up around 8:00 am and our ADR was for 9:40. Generally it takes us over an hour just to get all three of us ready, so we were a bit pressed for time!

Thankfully we were feeling MUCH BETTER that morning, and we both had an appetite! :woohoo: I was very relieved because I had been looking forward to breakfast at Boma for a veryyyy long time.

We played it safe and took more Pepto and somehow we manged to get out the door in less than an hour. We took the bus to MK since it was such a short trip, and then, a couple minutes later at MK another "VIP Cast Member" bus appeared and we had a quick trip to AKL! :thumbsup2

As we stepped off the bus a smile crossed my face and I startd to snap pictures...I love AKL. It holds fond memories of our honeymoon and it's such a stunning resort.

I cannot get a picture of this lobby that does it justice.

I looked forward to our post-breakfast exploring time. But, there was no time for that now. After our whirlwind walk around the lobby, we scurried down to Boma and checked in for our breakfast. On our way down, we heard some serious construction going on, it was REALLY loud. We noticed they were ripping out carpet and painting down the one hallway.

We were sat almost immediatly, and thankfully we could not hear the construction from the resturant. Our server was prompt and took our drink order - 2 glasses of Frunch, some water, a pressed pot of Kenyan coffee (oh yes) and milk for Henry. We like our fluids. ;)

IMG_2835Small.jpg

Joe hit the buffet first and came back excited and showing me his loot.

IMG_2830Small.jpg

Joe's first plate - Brioche, Omlette with ham and cheese, breakfast potatoes, a chocolate chip muffin and a waffle.

He and Henry dove in while I made my way up to the Buffet of Breakfast Glory. I came back with my plate

IMG_2832Small.jpg

My first plate - quinoa with brown sugar and raisins, ham, Brioche, pancake and breakfast potatoes.

IMG_2833Small.jpg

For Henry - Strawberry Banana Yogurt

As we were shoveling in the goodness (and EVERYTHING was good!) a little boy from the table direclty next to us stood in front of our table and waved. I smiled and waved back as I stuffed potatoes into my mouth.

As we ate, I looked over at the family and realized it was 'X-A-N-D-E-R" and "R-Y-A-N" from the airport! What crazy odds. So I asked Xander, "Do you remember us from the airport?" and he nodded. What a smart kid!

I realized at this point that he was not eating, but playing with his napkin instead. So, I pulled out a coloring book and crayons Henry got at the WL during check-in and gave them to Xander so he would have something to do, figuring he didn't like breakfast, already ate, or wasn't hungry.

We continued on with our meal and HAPPILY enjoyed the beauty of the Boma offerings.

IMG_2836Small.jpg

More goodness - Brioche, bacon, an apple pastry, more potatoes, and I think that's a scone. Maybe. Or something else that is really good.

Xander's family was wrapping up and I noticed he hadn't touched the coloring book or crayons yet. His Dad came by and smiled and then handed them back to me with a bit of an eye roll and groan. I got the picture-Xander was apparently not behaving that morning....so I gave the Dad an "I understand." look and smile and quietly slid the coloring book and crayons back into my bag.

Their family shuffled off and we continued our feast. The resturant was mostly bare, which was nice since Henry was loudly enjoying all the food!

I LOVE BOMA!

Up next: More Boma (and...:rolleyes1...) coming soon!

Hi Brook! I just wandered over from the pictures you posted in the WL photo thread!!! Your report is great!!! So sorry for the tummy trouble you guys had! That's no fun!! Henry is adorable!! Can't wait to read more!!

Welcome! Glad you are enjoying the TR. :goodvibes The tummy troubles were not fun, it was pretty rough at AK, but we laughed our way through it! Thank you for the compliment on my little guy too. :)

You are such a trouper (trooper?). I had a day like that where I got to take a tour of Valleyfair's restroom facilities. I laugh about it now, but it was such a nightmare. It looks like you had fun, despite all of the not so magical moments.

I like the name Pooper Trooper. I'll go for it with any spelling. ;) I think I would much prefer a tour of WDW bathrooms than Valleyfair, those can be SCARY at times. But I love their hand driers! :rotfl2:

We did have fun despite the many, many restroom stops. Thankfully we could just push on and not be completely miserable! And we had each other in it, so we could laugh.

Another reason for the chains is to ensure that the animals don't escape. Many of them cannot cross over the chains. (or at least that is what we were told.)

Ah, that makes sense too! Very cool, I love learning these tidbits.

Despite the issues it looks like a great time.

It really was! I find myself now looking forward to our AK day more than any other too because I feel like we spent so much of our day hanging out in or around bathrooms! But, I love that we spent time just wandering and enjoying the beauty of AK.

Great update!
I always get that way at disney world.
I HATE IT.

I'm just like "okay, time to ride everest ... oh wait, BATHROOM BREAK!"

Oh man! That really stinks! I'm so sorry you get that way all the time. :sad2: But, at least you know where all the good bathrooms are at the parks! ;)

Ahhhh, They joys of parenthood and travel sickness, what a lovely combo! :rotfl:

Subbing

:lmao: Parenthood is always an adventure, isn't it???

I look back and am SO GRATEFUL none of this happened while on the plane! I cannot even fathom the gallons of vomit or bathroom issues while flying! Ugh.

yay!! this is the part I've been waiting for:goodvibes

I loved Boma Bfst too... i made QUITE the piggy of myself with all those delish little pastries....yummo!!
