Just thinking outloud... and wanted a shout out to all my fellow Freaps... I do a program called Anysolider.com and send care packages to the soliders in all branches that are serving... I send all kinds of stuff.. and I love using free items I get to add in there as well.... so I am wondering if anyone out there has any freebie items they would like to donate to the cause and I would do a Disboards Care package and put a special limegreen disboards Note in the box.... if anyone is interested let me know - PM me and we can chat and I can give you my addy for items to be sent... I send food, kool-aid, bandaids, stationay, cards, games, lotion, gloves, kids items (they give thinggs to the children), toiletries, etc...

what a great idea! I never knew this existed. I will DEFINATELY be making up some care packages! Thanks!

I have signed up to send a soldier care packages out myself too from a name received on your website. I love the website, full of great info. I have been sending out care packages to a soldier from a name I got from the American Red Cross. I have been disappointed that after I have sent 4 boxes of goodies and spent over $200 I had not heard a word from him. After reading the website I understand more that I shouldn't expect to hear from him. I have not sent anything in the past few weeks because I wondered if he was actually receiving them. I will throw another box together for him and my "New" soldier both. Sending the koolaid is a great idea but wonder if we should also be sending sugar with it? And how would one safely do that? Thanks for the post! Lisa in Indiana

Last year my students made holiday cards and we sent them to addresses from Anysoldier.com. Unfortunately, one of them came back to us in February, so it was too late to send it on to another soldier. If you ask around in your local communities, there may be a soldier abroad from your own towns who would pass on goodies to his/her unit. That's how my mom's church sent a giant care package. A parishioner's son is in Iraq and sent a wish list. The church sent 3 boxes of goodies to him to share among, well, everyone!

I just wanted to say what a nice thing you are doing. Personally our church collects personal care products specifically trial size products. We make up pouches full of products and donate them to women's shelter locally. They are used for battered woman and children who leave home with nothing.
