I have several old hopper passes dated 1999 and 2000. I think there is one day left on all of them. Just want to confirm what to do with them. Am I right in thinking that if they have the magnetic strips we can just use them as is or do we need to go to guest relations? Also, my last name has changed since then and my old name is signed on the back. Should I bring a copy of my marriage certificate to prove my id? Thanks! I haven't been back to Disney since 2000 and I feel like a rookie again!!!

Thanks!

We've used older park passes with the magnetic strip right at the gate - but what I usually do is take them all to the front desk & they can transfer them all to your current park pass/resort room card, then they're all together for the current trip or for use years later. I only ever had trouble using a one day, one park free pass that I got on September 11th, 2001 since we had to leave the park - I had to go to guest relations to turn that into ticket. I don't think they will even ask about the name change, but I've never had to do that.

They no longer put tickets you have not purchased at the resort on your room key.

From allearsnet.com

Can I have these paper tickets put on my resort ID when I check in at my Disney resort?

Disney resorts frowned on this in the past as it was a complicated and somewhat involved process for the CM to do and was restricted to brand new completely unused tickets. Not every CM knew how to do it and the ones that did didn't always care to do so since it was time consuming. But since the ticket price change of September 8, 2002 the resorts will no longer put any pre-purchased tickets onto resort ID's at all.

The reason is said to be that only tickets purchased from the resort are now allowed to be encoded onto the ID. This is due to the price differences now in effect. Disney will not allow you to purchase a discounted ticket (either using the advance purchase discount or tickets from an outside ticket wholesaler) and have it put on the resort ID. The only exception to this is for UPH's since they must all be put on resort ID's.

You will be fine to use them and you should have no problem with your name change, they never check.

Thanks for the update Gail - it must have been prior to 9/2002 that I had them put on my resort ID card! Love the pic of the castle illuminated in violet!
