We bought a 9 day park hopper from Disney for our daughter for our most recent trip to WDW. She did not come. The ticket shows up on her profile on My Disney Experience and says that it can be transferred. There is an expiration at the end of 2018. We don't plan on returning until late 2019. What are our options for this ticket.

Also, we may be going to Disneyland in 2018. Would we be able to use the ticket there?

Thanks.

Tickets that have never been used can be sold/transferred to someone else.

You can also hold on to the ticket and apply the purchase price to a new ticket once you do go back to WDW.

WDW tickets are not valid for DL entry.

I thought that the clock didn't start until first use?

All new WDW tickets now have an "expiration" date which is set to the end of the next year (currently 12/31/2018). This started on 2/12/2017 (last price increase) for multi-day tickets and year or two ago for one day tickets.

From the ticket purchase page at disneyworld.com:
Multi-day tickets are valid for one theme park per day for each day of the ticket. The first use must be on or before December 31, 2018.

Multi-day tickets and any options purchased must be used within 14 days of first use, except for Florida Resident 3-Day and 4-Day Tickets. Florida Resident 3-Day and 4-Day Tickets expire 6 months after first use. First use must occur on or before December 31, 2018.

Will they ever stop screwing with their guests? Thanks for the update! :thumbsup2

When never-used tickets expire, they don't become unusable. They just need to be turned in for newer ones (with an upcharge to the current price).

If Disney finds something that will help the guests, you can bet they will change it so you can't get a break.

Disneyland has had expiring tickets for a long time. At least they don't become worthless, you just can't stockpile them for years.
