We just got back from a stay at OKW. Our grocery delivery included a few items we did not order, but were told to keep anyway; jelly, peanut butter, a bag of bagels and mustard. We didn't use them at all and since we were only traveling with carry-on bags, couldn't take them with us even if we wanted to. So I left them on the counter with a note to housekeeping that everything was unopened and they should feel free to take what's there. Will housekeeping have been able to do that or did it all go to waste?

I have walked outside (like around the board walk), and given unopened items out before. Pop, water, Mickey balloons, pretzels, an extra bottle of champ once.

I am not sure if mousekeeping will assist. But that was super nice.

We gave beer (blasphemous, I know) and such to bell services. They were pleased. :goodvibes

On our last trip, we gave wine, frozen stouffers lasagna, sodas, etc to bell services when they picked up our OL. He was thrilled.

I had heard somewhere that housekeeping has to throw away any food that is left, even unopened. But that could be incorrect.

Had I thought about it, I might have brought it to the Hospitality House and asked them to give it to the staff rather than dispose of it.

If you watch the Mousekeepers leaving work, walking to the bus stop or Cast Member parking, you will see them carrying everything, balloons, flowers, and groceries. Seems like nothing goes to waste.

Last time we were "home" we had just transfered in from another hotel and we left a bag of groceries on the table instead of taking time to put them away. The second day we were there was a cleaning day and when we came back from the park that night our groceries were gone even though we had 4 more nights in our room. When I spoke with the head of housekeeping they did appologize for the confusion and reimbursed me. Lesson: always put groceries away or they may walk away.:thumbsup2

Many CMs will accept things they are not supposed when no one is looking. Last time we were "home" (BLT) we got on a MK bus from BC after MK had closed. The driver told us that he really wasn't supposed to pick up passengers because MK was closed. We explained that we were trying to get to BLT. He said OK, and then instead of dropping us off at MK he took us right to CR. We were so thrilled, I wanted to offer him a tip. I asked him if he was allowed to accept tips, and he said "not really, but I will!" :) We were glad he said yes, because he saved us a great deal of time since we didn't have to walk through Epcot or take a bus to DTD.

The last time we visited we had extra drinks, milk, juice, etc left over and offered them to the magical express driver as we departed the bus. She very quietly said "thank you" and placed the bag of drinks off to the side which made us think that perhaps she was not supposed to take them but was grateful to have them. We also have offered food/toys etc to other guests we see in the halls the morning we are leaving. I am always happy when someone spreads pixie dust by offering us their leftover water, etc.

I've never been a cast member so I can't be sure if this is true or not. I've heard that positions at Disney are classified as tip and non-tip. If you offer a tip to someone who isn't supposed to take one, they're supposed to decline. However, if you insist three times, they're supposed to take it so as not to appear rude. Looks like your driver just wanted to save you the trouble of asking another two times. :rotfl2:

My DH made friends at the pool last time we were there and we just gave them all of our extras!

Yes, I've left many things....including a big bowl of Hallowe'en candy! I'm sure housekeeping/staff appreciates it.

Yes, I actually asked the driver if he was allowed to accept them before I offered. We were the only ones on the bus, so I think that is why he accepted it. To us it was money well spent.

I learned the hard way not to do MNSSHP on the last night of your trip. All that candy goes to waste. It doesn't travel well :lmao:

Thats funny. We had an unopened 12 pack which we offered to the Bell Services staffer who came to pick up our luggage and Owners Locker when we checked out. He told us that he was not allowed to accept the gift. He told us to leave it for housekeeping and they would "dispose of it". I should have thought of simply standing in the hallway for 10 minutes waiting for somebody who could use it.

We lurked in the lobby of Kidani looking like creepy stalkers on our last trip trying to catch someone checking in who might want half a case of bottled water. We finally found a taker in the shop. :rotfl: We offered it to Bell Services first but he said he couldn't take it.

Last year I had 3/4 case of water left and 2 big bottles of soda and offered it to the beell hop & he was very thankful. He told us that he would share it with the other workers. We have also left other things on occassion for the housekeepers with a note saying "We hope you can use these." Of course everything that we left as still sealed, (not opened by us)... I hope our items did not go to waste.

;) We have been able to give things to CMs and other Guests on our trips. The best was giving my Jack Sparrow poster to a little 5 year old boy while he was checking in--to hang in his window at Pop. Got Mom's permission first.
