Unused airline tickets, can they be donated someplace???

Hi everyone,
I have 2 unused airline tickets (had to change a vacation last year)that I won't be able to use prior to their expiring (due to the fact that I can get cheaper airfare from another carrier paying full price, to the same location than I can on this particular carrier with all of their ticket change fees and overly priced flights).

Does anybody know if there is a place to donate unused airline tickets? Kids are the world? Military personnel to come home on leave?

Any information would be helpful.

Your best bet would be to contact the airline directly. I'm sure they have the numbers to such organizations.

I don't think you can donate the tickets as they can't be reissued in someone else' name. You do know that you can reissue them to a different destination than the original one as long as you pay the change fee (usually $100 these days) the original ticket price applies to the new ticket. Don't know how much you originally paid, but here is the way to extend the use of the tickets/your funds. Search for new tickets to any destination that are "refundable" and are close to your original ticket price. You can then apply the funds to the new ticket and when you cancel that ticket you can get your money back. I know it sounds tricky, but it's about the only way to keep from losing the original funds you have invested.

I believe Make a Wish takes donated miles still, so maybe they can utilize this some how too? Maybe shoot them a quick email asking. I also love the military idea too. I hope somebody can benefit from them!

There is no way to donate tickets, only miles. And to donate miles you would need to physically fly the flight to earn them.

Actually it probably depends what airline/what type of credit. Southwest's stuff is sometimes transferable.
