I intended to check the card first, but thought we'd do it at the Customer Service counter (toward the back.) And DS had ketchup on his face from lunch, so actually we went to the bathroom to clean up his face first, then Customer Service. She said we had to go back to a register in the front (wait in line), so instead we went to pick out some more books, then got in line.Sounds like a fun afternoon. I could just spend all day in a bookstore. Don't you hate it when giftcards don't work right. I've gotten to where I either go online or have them check it when I first go into the store. I've had too many surprises when I get to the checkstand.

I think I've been watching too much Anthony Bourdain No Reservations. Those bowls of chicken feet soup from South Korea are starting to look really good!
I love that show! He is so snarky, and bitter. Right up my alley! I dont get bugged TOO much by what he eats, but that other guy... I forget his name. Andrew Zimmern? GROSS! Dh is convinced that these guys spend 90% of their trips in their hotel rooms with the poos.
Ill bet that it has been great recuping with out having any drama around the house. Have I mentioned how excited I am for Mikalah to be a teen?![]()

Those must be a pain in the tushy.

Yeah, well... DS3 has a B&N gift card, too. But we went to the mall earlier today (for me to get some funeralwearALEX!!! Whats up chickadee? We are big fans of bookstores too...Except Mikalah cant seem to chill out long enough for us to find anything.
) and StrideRite was having their annual spring sale (buy 1 get 1 half off) so we also got a bunch of shoes. Don't even wanna know how much those 4 pair of shoes cost.

Sam, I thought she was pretty typical when we met up at DL. And I thought it was really sweet of her and her friend to give DS3 and Cooper their little critters from their drinks. My bff and DD don't get along at all. My bff says that she is disrespectful and sometimes wants to just smack her. But then again, she is older and never had kids. My DH says DD is just like I was when I was that age, so I just tend to shrug her behavior off. Besides, she doesn't act like that all the time. I have gotten to where I can't go shopping with the two of them together!![]()

Oh, and DH bought an Apple laptop! I couldn't believe it, an Apple!!!![]()
(It's a computer geek thing. Most computer geeks go for IBM compatible, so this is a BIG DEAL, PEOPLE!!!)![]()
One of my former bosses used to seek out gross foods. He was in the Navy in his youth and brags about eating balut, a Philippino delicacy.DH and I were just discussing how American's "sterilize" their food. Our food doesn't even remotely look like what it started out as. I know my SIL won't even eat whole chicken. The veins & bones gross her out. She has to have chicken strips or boneless, skinless chicken strips. I'm pretty much up to trying anything. If I don't like it I won't try it again. We are going to try to start going to more street festivals and ethnic restaurants in Portland. We need to broaden our culinary tastebuds and expose the kids to foods that are outside of their comfort zone. Ahhh....they're gonna love us!![]()
(I wasn't really mad, I just didn't want them eating the cat's food!)

(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balut) And he also bought freeze-dried bugs and worms at the Pacific Science Center one time and dared us all to eat one. Most of the women, myself included, declined, but of course all the guys had to cave to peer pressure or look like wimps.![]()
We had a party at our house once and he and another guy dared each other to eat my catfood. Of course they both did, and when I found them, I said, "Damn it, that's expensive!"(I wasn't really mad, I just didn't want them eating the cat's food!)

Note to self: If ever invited to Alex's for a party be sure to stuff PB&J sandwiches into my purse before going. Then won't be subjected to eating cat food for hors devours!
Yeah, I don't like Andrew Zimmern. It just seems kind of strange to me to go looking for gross foods. I mean it's one thing if it's part of the presentation. Really, even an American could go to the grocery store and find gross things.
Have you noticed that Anthony Bourdain drinks lots of alcohol with his meals. Usually it is bottled beer, but on occassion it's hard liquor. I think that's his secret, let the alcohol kill the funky germs!

that probably is his secret! He drinks like a dang fish. It has probably killed all his taste buds, so he doesnt know how gross the stuff he eats really is.
But we live in an area wher ethere are TON of odd little resturants, so we like to try them out.Hi all!!One of my former bosses used to seek out gross foods. He was in the Navy in his youth and brags about eating balut, a Philippino delicacy.

Actually, Apple is very user-friendly, particularly if you don't know what you're doing, very intuitive with the icons and menus and so forth. And Windows is based on Apple's software. Microsoft and Apple were working together on an operating system years ago, but disagreed on some key component, so they broke the deal. MS went on to produce Windows, which looked very much like Apple.Cool!! Our decorator at our office bought an Apple once. It was recommended for more artistic application. However, he was completely computer unsavy and kept coming to me for help. That was probably about 15 years ago, but even then I was completely lost on what to do. I think they are more like IBM compatible's than they used to be aren't they? I always worked on DOS based computer and had a hard time switching over to Windows. Windows is nice, but it's really set up for non-computer people and really slows me down. I had a really hard time getting used to a mouse. I'm still one of those people that tend to use the function and shift keys to get things done. Guess it's just a habit!
Wasn't there some controversy that Bill Gates sort of stole Steve Jobs Apple based computer operating system and tweaked it a bit and made it into Windows? So I would think the two systems are pretty close to each other aren't they??

We love all the ethnic food places. We exposed Alex to it early, and now he is game to try anything. Mikalah wont eat anything but hot dogs and macaroni and cheese though.![]()
