DS3 has not napped today, so he is a wild man tonight. I thought we were going to have to KILL him before dinner! He was just driving everyone nuts, and he and DS7 kept beating on each other! I finally YELLED (not easy just at the moment, I'm still pretty hoarse) and made DS7 go to his room for awhile, then left DH to fend off DS3 while I finished making dinner. Once DS7 came back downstairs they started up again, so I YELLED at them again to get them to SIT DOWN and SHUT UP at the dinner table.

I'm not really a yeller, so it was... quite an evening.

GEESH, they have a knack for knowing just where to hit that last nerve, ya know???

Yep, I hear ya and Lynn can now attest to that. I bet she's thanking her lucky stars that Tiff was an only this week! Hard to try to yell when your voice is gone though!! My voice gets great exercise though, I yell A LOT!

That's so funny because that was DH too. And actually, I NEVER do that but Lynn wore me out so much this week that I just couldn't get up for some reason!!

That reminds me of the last time I lost my voice. I couldn't tell the boys, "Stop that! Sit down! Be quiet!" so I started snapping my fingers at them and giving them The Look. You know what I mean? The Mom Glare.

It worked for awhile, but then they figured out if they didn't look at me, they had an excuse. I'd snap my fingers, then snap again, and then grab an arm. DS7 would bat his big brown eyes at me and say, "But Mama, I couldn't understand what you wanted."

Aaaaagggghghhhh!

It's funny now... Snap! Snap snap snap!!!

Ah, yes the snap!! I am quite fond of the snap, works great in public. But like you said, it only lasts so long before they aren't afraid of my fingers coming together and making noise!!
