Hi Melody! Its not raining as hard as it is here... They had to close I5...:sad2: For DAYS.

Did you have fun on your trip? Tell me all about it?

Yes I did have a good time, and I shopped till I dropped! :faint: We stayed right across the street from the Macy's block. The hotel only cost us 116.00 a night. It's old but very well kept up, and the service is fantastic!! My legs hurt from so much walking up and down the streets. Everyone had their umbrellas out today, and all were Christmas shopping. Very festive!! I wore a different Christmas pin on my lapel everyday. Woo Hoo! :lmao: And now I have just dated myself. But I sure got alot of compliments! :rolleyes1

Lynn, we were so busy, I never made it to any of those places. We just stayed near Union Square. I told my DF that I need to bring David back, and just be able to meander, and not be so rushed to get everything done.

We are going back in May for Kaitlyn's 8th grade trip. Maybe we can do one of those then if we have some free time. popcorn::

Alex, for once it is more than just a spinkle. Huh Lynn??? Anyways...very funny!

Oh Lynn! you have been making me feel better several times over the past few days! Thank you! Im also glad to know Im not the only hyena with a sordid past...:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I INHALED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:rotfl2:

There are a lot of schools, but not really a choice, you are just assigned a school. One of DS7's friends is in the gifted program, so she actually attends a different elem that has the gifted classes.

We have a program at our school called Hi-C (highly capable). It's kind of a joke, I think they just sign up the smart kids so they get extra state funding. DD was in it and all they seem to do is give them some extra homework each week and go on a couple of field trips each year.

yes it poured today...I had to change my windshield blades it was bad and it has slowed down to sprinkling but its continuous and will continue through tomorrow and sat...Melody, can you even remember the last time it rained here? I cant for the life of me:confused3

I have a slight problem tonight. Mr. Griswold (aka) DH put up about half of the outdoor xmas lights today. Now he is in bed snoring and I have no idea how he set things up and where they are all plugged in! So do I leave them plugged in all night or wander around outside in the cold and dark and try to figure out how to turn them off??

So far he has the giant inflatables, front of house icicle lights, we have a giant santa train across the front porch, more lights on little trees. We still have the side of the house icicle lights, sidewalk snowflake lights, garage lights and who knows what else to put up!! Sorry Alex & Staley if I have caused a brown out in Seattle!:rotfl:

hey alison and alex:goodvibes ...tink tell us about the trip...where did you eat? did you go with any of my suggestions? I saw that you couldnt pull the website up for stacks...man that sux..I really wanted you to go...
Hey! We didn't eat until 9:00pm both nights. We were soooooooooooo tired, that the thought of going anywhere was too much to handle. But I'm keeping your info for future references.

Have you ever been to Kulatos? Yum yum!! Homemade pasta and sauces, and chocolate pots de creme, topped with chocolate gelato for dessert. Man that sounds good right now. :rolleyes1
And it was in our hotel. Very convenient for 2 very weary ladies. :upsidedow

There was one of those debate threads about 'gifted' students here recently. (Actually, there have been several.) But the OP was saying she didn't want her child participating in the gifted program, that it just meant more homework, and the kids selected she didn't feel were gifted, just the brighter ones in the class. Basically what you are saying.

And she said it didn't give the kids an edge as far as getting into college, so she thought it was a waste of time.

iyt does seem like everyone on the community board has a child in gifted classes, doesnt it? It almost makes me ashamed to admit my kids are average.... sometimes I wonder about Mikalah. Like when she runs head first into a sliding glass door. :sad2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Sounds like our house! DH is planning to get our stuff up tomorrow, so then the region will really be in trouble! :lmao:

We drove through the neighborhood this evening. There's one cul-de-sac where the neighbors (well, all but one house) really go all out. We drove by slowly and just laughed ourselves silly. I told DH that one house looked like Christmas had puked there, and DS7 said, "What? Who puked?" :rotfl2:

Have you ever thought about a timer. They're cheap, and it's to nice to have them go off automatically. We usually set ours at 10:00pm or so.

DD did it for a couple of years. Actually she was in 2 programs at once, the gifted program and another program for children that couldn't pass the WASL. (Washington's standardized test for you non Washingtonians). We actually got sick of the WASL so we let her opt out of some of the tests, so she got an F on them. They sent home a note saying that they were placing her in a special program so she could catch up with her peers! We got a good laugh out of that one. Apparently according to the school she was both gifted and remedial at the same time. I called the school and they took her off he remedial list. All they seen was the score, they didn't bother to check and see if she actually took the tests.

Lynn,

Have you talked to Andrea yet?? About if she's going to DL or not?
