So to give you a little perspective on me, I am a SAHM, DH and I are very involved with our kids, and we don't make enough effort to get out and socialize much. It's a
big deal for us to get out of the house for an evening alone, and even on the rare occasion that we do, it's usually just for dinner and conversation, then back home. I can't even tell you the last time that happened, but it was in 2006...
So here's been my life the last week:
Friday, Oct. 26: My closest girlfriends and I, who together have 9 children about the same ages (2yo through 7yo) had a Girls Night Out! We just started doing this in September, and we are having so much fun! We are planning to do this one evening a month.
Saturday, Oct. 27: I attended an all-day scrapbook workshop. What a blast! I am still working on the pages for our first
Disneyland trip in fall 2006, and I can't believe how much the boys have grown in just one year! I attend a workshop about 3 times a year.
Monday, Oct. 29 - Thursday, Nov. 1: DH's step-grandma came to visit. (Grandpa was a widower, and met up with his childhood friend at a class reunion. They married the same year we did, so she is the only "great-grandma" the boys have known.) Grandpa died in 2005, which was hard for all of us, especially her of course. She last visited in spring 2006, so it was wonderful to see her, and the boys eat up all her attention like little sponges. Definitely a win-win visit, everyone is happy!
Saturday, Nov. 3: I attended a scrapbook convention in town. It occurs only once a year, and I try to go every year. I didn't sign up quick enough to attend any classes, but enjoyed just shopping on the vendor floor and doing a few make-and-takes. I love seeing all the beautiful new papers and fun gadgets! I even bought a very expensive one that should ship within the week, WOOHOO!!!
Sunday, Nov. 4: An old college friend of DH's and mine is coming to visit today. I'm so excited! I haven't seen her for like 2+ years, and at the time she was newly divorced and starting on a totally new career path. She's now a newlywed. The business she started previously went well but the partnership with another person didn't, so now she's embarking on another venture, and I can't wait to talk with her!
It just stuns me that I can go weeks, or
months without much change in the routine, and here all this activity has occurred on a little over a week! GEESH, I hope I haven't used up my quota of excitement for the year...
