Currently have a ressie at Jiko for 5:30 dinner (for one) but im thinking of not eating there anymore...since im spending the day at AK and then heading to Epcot after my ADR im concerned about brining a change of clothes (for something more approproate/dressy to wear to Jiko) Im thinking it may just be a hassle... im thinking of changing it to something in the Epcot area but I have no idea where to go...other ADR's in my trip include mama melrose, ton's, and CRT....advice please :lovestruc

As long as you aren't looking like a complete scrub you should be ok at Jiko. If you wear khaki shorts with a short sleeve solid color tshirt for example. I often wear a tennis or golf shirt with a sport polo for times like this when I want to be comfortable at the park but then look dressier for dinner. Target has great items for really good prices. Even Walmart has been getting in some cute stuff like this. They often have matching jackets too for around $25 which I love since I get chilly in air conditioning easily. I also find that throwing on a pair of pearl earrings dresses anything up.

I would not give up Jiko! You are going in December? The weather should be nice enough for you to wear nicer than normal clothing to AK for the day, and just change your shoes!

I would never give up Jiko. Their filet and mac and cheese is to die for. We never change before we go to a restaurant, not even for signature dining. Park clothes are just fine.

what the average civilized Non Redneck person wears to the parks is FINE for Jiko.

(and I say this having many white trash redneck relatives in the worst possible connotation you can dream up)

DH was in shorts and collared shirt and I wore a knit skirt and collared shirt.

the food was VERY good and we had a great server.

We love Jiko and the only thing I would replace it with (Epcot wise) is Tutto Italia or Le Cellier.

Ha Ha! I have some of those relatives too! lol!

We have a game in my family, when Jeff Foxworthy tells his redneck jokes, we name our relative it describes!!!!! Unfortunately, we have at least one relative that fits each joke!!!! We were able to name at least 5 with cars on blocks in their yards (you never know when you will need a part for an 85 Toyota) Hilarious! I still love my relatives! Very nice people, just a little misguided! lol

Back on topic! There are no Epcot restaurants that come close to Jiko, except the Bistro in France, and most people dress up for that restaurant too. So I would def. not skip Jiko!

Jiko is worth every little bit of hassle you may encounter to get there, and you can avoid the hassle altogether by just slightly increasing the level your park attire. Capris and a shirt (okay, maybe not one that says "I'm with Dopey") would be just fine. Go. Enjoy. You will not regret it.

What she said.

Jiko is the single best dining experience we've had on Disney property (review in my signature - shameless plug). I wouldn't pass it up for anything.

Sounds like a great idea...I suppose I could just pack a collared shirt from my 'work attire' wardrobe

That's what drew me to make the ressie in the first place was the filet with mac and cheese...sounds delish!

:rotfl: that's too funny...I think the thing im worried about is what I will be wearing to the parks...I've never gone in January and I have visions of wearing big hoodies and parka's to the parks and trying to get a table in Jiko looking like that lol Do you think it would be warm enough for longer capri's and nice longer sleeve tops?

Jiko is so amazing, you don't have to be super fancy. IMO, you shouldn't wear t shirts (polos are fine) or shorts. Jeans are OK, as long as they're not super baggy.

The Ostrich filet was really good, and so was the tanglewood chicken. I enjoyed both of them very much, a lot more than the filet and mac & cheese.

All the Disney restaurants these days are easy on the clothes rules other than V&A.

I wear a short-sleeve polo and some jeans every time we hit Jiko.

One of the best joints in all of WDW!

Do not give up Jiko! It's wonderful. AKL lobby is ne of my favorite places to just hang around in. Go early, wander into the gift shop, then out the back door to see the animals, then have a glass of wine at Victoria Falls, and a lovely dinner at Jiko!

Jiko was our absolute favorite meal of the trip. I agree, absolutely don't give it up.

DH wore khaki shorts and a polo shirt that day, and I wore a sleeveless shirt (not tank top, a solid colored sleeveless shirt) and capris. We could have gone just like that, but I stuck a knee-length skirt in my backpack and changed into it ... mostly because it's my favorite skirt and I don't get to wear it often, because I can't wear sleeveless shirts to work.

If you're going in December, jeans and a regular shirt (not a T-shirt with a logo, something like a polo shirt or solid colored shirt) will be just fine.
