I think I just need reassurance because we've booked FQ for June and from some of the reviews on TripAdvisor that I've read, it seems to be a dirty resort. I requested building 4 for close proximity to everything. Should I be worried at all?

Welcome :welcome: to the DIS Boards!

Hang around here long enough and you will hear all kinds of opinions. Some have reported their rooms were not very clean, and although I have no reason to doubt them I have never experienced this. Look at my signature; I would not keep going back if I thought POFQ was unclean. Heres a photo of the room I had last September, which was in Building 4, by the way.

And as for the resort itself, the only time I've ever noticed anything I considered to be unclean was when sloppy guests left a mess behind at the food court, but you'll see this everywhere. The CM's do their best to clean up after slobs who will not clean up after themselves, but it may take a few minutes to get to it. But its not as though its perpetually dirty.

I LOVE POFQ, and will probably be going back again next year. I suggest you check out the POFQ FAQ thread. Even though its long and goes back a couple of years there is a lot of good information there.

Don't take anything you read here as absolute.....as far as reviews....

I have stayed at POFQ 2x and was very satisfied both visits.

One of those visits was during free dining....place was completely full....
didn't even notice.

POFQ is a nice resort but the buses can be hit or miss. I personally don't care for the shared transportation but at least POFQ is first.

funny, I was just reading those reviews yesterday and also noticed quite a few saying POFQ was dirty. Here's my take on it:

last Aug/Sept a group of us stayed at POFQ .. it was my fiance and I in one room... his sister, her husband and kids in other room... and my fiance's mother and brother in another room. No one had any complaints or problems.

This was my first time at the resort and we all just loved it. There were no issues with cleanliness in our room and no one else in our party mentioned their room being dirty.

I think it's a case of one bad apple ruining the bunch. Maybe once in a great while there is a dirty room and the people who get it post on those message boards and make it sound like EVERY room is dirty. In a perfect world every room would be 100% clean.. but I'm sure there are people in housekeeping (just like everywhere else) who slack off. If you DO get a dirty room (which I doubt you will) just ask to be moved and I'm sure Disney will accomidate you.

POFQ is a fabulous resort and you'll be very happy you stayed there. We'll probably stay there or POR the next time we return.

good luck!

POFQ is one of our favorite resorts and we have never experienced any 'dirty' issues at all. Staff is always friendly and the resort is easy to manage. We too ask for bldg #4- close to the food court, bus and it seems no matter what room we have we have a nice view.
We will be heading back next year for Christmas and looking forward to it alot..

What's the definition of "dirty"? Everyone has a different definition of the word. Some people will be highly offended if they walked into a room and a trashcan was still full but everything else was fine. It just means the housekeeper forgot to empty the trashcan once.

Don't go by anyone's review. If you did, you'd never stay at any Disney resort or eat at any Disney resturant or even ride any Disney attraction. Because someone at some point over the course of the past 36 years will have had a negative experience. And we silly humans are quicker to complain than we are to praise.

Well said. This is our next choice of resort and I'm reading as much as I can about the place and unfortunately negative comments begin to plant seeds of doubt, but the best thing is to give it a go and if something is not to your liking let Disney know.

POFQ was our first stay in Disney World and we loved it! It was so quiet and quaint and the busing was fantastic from there. Every so often we would end up going all throughout riverside, but more often then not we were the last ones to be picked up so went directly to the park, and we were the first ones dropped off.

The kids absolutely loved the pool, and it is a perfect size for being able to see them and not worry about them leaving your field of view at all. My only complaint was of course the doubles for the bed size, but we managed. If I was to go there again I'd probably do 2 rooms so the hubby and I could get our own beds. lol My brother's room did smell of smoke when he first got in the room, but they did give it a good spray with an odour remover when we complained to the front desk and it did the trick.

We loved the Beach Club our second time, but the resort was alot larger and even though the pool is really cool and the kids loved it, as a parent with really young ones I was a little nervous of them slipping in and out of my field of vision when they had to go on the waterslide or go to the beach area. It is rather large.

EDIT ** Just realized that it was building 4 I stayed in btw...bottom floor on the end farthest from the main building. Great location and the rooms were very clean. (besides that smoke smell)

I'm really overwhelmed by everyone's comments! I didn't expect so many people would be so helpful. Thanks to you guys my doubts are starting to subside (my husband is relieved :lmao: )

Thanks for the warm welcome too!

WE LOVE POFQ!!!! We stayed there this past Feb. and had a wonderful stay! It is a lovely resort and is the perfect size. It was also peaceful and quiet. The room was very clean and mousekeeping was great.

We stayed in bdlg. 5 and had a terrific corner room on the third floor. We had a beautiful view of a courtyard.

It is so true about how everyone has different opinions about any WDW resort. This past June we stayed at CBR. I think for years I read so many negative reviews about CBR. But it looked so inviting to us. We LOVED it! I think it is my DS's (7 yrs) favorite resort. Next trip in 2009 we are debating about POFQ or POR. Starting now to read all the different outlooks of both sides.

POFQ is a great place, it's my fav resort. It's small size can't be beat. The boat to DTD is great and best of all it has its own bus from MK in the evening, a huge plus.

My parents go there every year. They love that resort and have never had any complaints.
I hope this help.:goodvibes

I have stayed at POFQ twice and never experienced "dirty". It's a beautiful resort, very quiet and compact, and the landscaping is lush and meticulous. The boat to DTD is such a nice perk, and the walk between POR and POFQ is a wonderful way to relax in the early morning/evening. It's nice to have quick convenient access to the marina at POR. The food court was pleasant, good selection and fairly quiet compared to some of the others. The evening entertainment in the lounge area is very nice as well, not crowded and you can see the entertainer from some seats in the food court as well.
We love it there and will stay there again soon.

Another fan of POFQ. Been there twice in the past couple of years. Loved it both times - never saw an issue with "dirty." I love the size of the resort and the overall peacefulness of it!

I would not worry - this is a wonderful resort! We stayed at POFQ in September of 2006 and 2007. Both trips we had two rooms (4 kids, so we need to rooms), and we had no cleanliness issues at all.

However, keep in mind that cleaning issues can happen at any hotel anywhere. They are upsetting when they happen, but this is a 24/7 business and things happen. The only issue we have had on Disney property was at the Poly a deluxe and we were in concierge to boot - situation was rectified with a move and all was fine in the end.

I would not worry any more about POFQ than you worry about any other hotel. Have a great trip - we will be back at POFQ next September!
