Your family is going to have to decide what is important. Space, budget, dining choices, ambiance.
We stayed at AOA when it first opened, in a Cars suite. The room was great. DH and I loved having our own bedroom and bath. The kitchenette was handy if underutilized. We have so many fun pictures with the icons scattered around the paths. I'm not a theme person, at all, and I enjoyed it for the short time we were there. The one thing that kept us from returning was the food court. No one got exactly what they wanted, with all of those choices, because visiting the different bays with 3 young kids would have taken too much time. Your teens can do it. Our Bounty platter one morning was awful, but I think that was just an intermittent problem.
I'm with you on liking POR. I'm squeezing my family of 5 in an AB room in a few days. I can return and tell you how horrible or easy it was
I chose it specifically for the access to Disney Springs, Yeeha Bob, and the cost compared to other resorts that fit 5. It allowed for us to have a longer vacation and a split with YC. I'm not looking forward to the food court experience, but that will only be once or twice.
