Unrequested Room Upgrade

We had a garden view room booked at the YC. When we checked in the CM upgraded us to a beautiful standard room with a view of the lake and boardwalk.

On a previous trip, We had a concierge room booked for our stay at the POLY. When we drove down to WDW we made such good time, I called reservations and tried to get a room for the night before we were to check in. All they had left were standard rooms at the POLY. So we booked the standard room for that night only. When we arrived the CM's upgraded us to a concierge room for that night. :cool1:

In 1999 we had reservations for a standard room at the YC for $179 per night (FL residents discount). At check-in I told the cast member how much we enjoyed WDW and it was our favorite place to visit. He then said, "Since you enjoy it here so much, I'll put you on the Concierge floor". We were so excited. Our room was beautiful with a great view of the pool and Epcot. I wonder what options the CM's have in upgrading your room?

We stayed at the French Quarter last month and booked a standard view room and got a garden view.

I am pretty sure that you got what you paid for then - Moderates have 2 rates, Standard and Water View, there is no Garden View rate.

We have stayed at a Moderate twice, both times we have had a corner room, which I prefer - I've never requested it, and I don't think it's something you can pay extra for, but I do appreciate it when it happens.

When we stayed at AKL, we booked Standard and got a Savannah view - I was thrilled, as I truly wasn't expecting it, I opened the curtains expecting to see woods or a car park and there was a giraffe - simply magic.

I have just been upgraded at the Bellagio last week in Las Vegas. The two queen beds my friend and I requested with the Lakeview ( which we paid for ) was not available. Was advised to take the room (with one king )wait and hour and then ring for the supervisor and say the room is not working!

Rang an hour later, and was put through to the manager who without hesitation upgraded us to the 32nd suite floor room overlooking the fountains and the other hotels etc !! It was wonderful ( especially as I had a discounted e mail code !!) :cool1:

Last October I booked a room at the GF with garden view. Did not realise till booked in and in room that we had Marina/ MK view ( with castle just out of site !! ) but could see BTM etc! That was a lovely suprise!

Reserved waterview room at the YC. When I got there I had this conversation with the CM checking me in:

Me: Any chance of an upgrade?
CM: We already have you in one of our finest waterview rooms.
Me: Concierge?
CM: Yes, I can give you concierge priveleges?

We didn't get a concierge room but the magic card got us to the concierge floor and lounge. Don't know if it mattered but I had the Luxury Guide to WDW in hand when I went to check-in.

At the Swan, booked a resort view room. Asked for an upgrade to a room with a balcony. Got it.

Had standard view room at BWI and asked at check-in for a large balcony and got it although I don't think this would be considered an upgrade. I don't think I specifically asked for an upgrade though.

It never, ever hurts to ask. And I always do at any hotel, Disney or not. I almost always get it when I ask and have never had to pay extra for it.

We arrived early to check in at GF and the standard room view we had paid for was not ready. We were given an upgrade and shown to our room right away. Not only did we have a view of the Seven Seas Lagoon, we also had an amazing view of the castle. Not bad for our first family trip to Disney World!
