Ok..just a question so don't jump on me :)

If hubby and I are going for 2 weeks and our son wants to join us for a few days out of the 2 weeks..do we have to put him on the reservation? We want to do the premium dining but I don't want to do it for my son. That's a little more than he can afford and I really don't want to split my reservations and have to purchase 4 tickets I won't be needing! He will be either staying in the camper or tenting it. What do you think?

Unless he needs Magical Express, you should have no problem. Just when he arrives, tell the folks at the front desk you have a visitor for a few days. They will issue him a resort ID, and they "might" charge you the $2 extra adult fee, but I doubt they will make you add the dining plan for him while he is there.

Great!! Thanks !! I don't mind paying the extra $2 a day..it's the $69.99 that will kill me:) I just don't want him getting thrown out!!

Then maybe I won't tell them he's there:confused3
The fewer questions the better!
Thanks!

Sorry..but I went ticker happy !!!!

If you plan to use extra magic hours or if he needs to get into a comfort station late at night, it's handy to have a resort ID.

Sneak in all the people you want, just don't park your vehicle in the roadway or speed in your golf cart. ;)

Good point there. But if he's only visiting can he use the EMH's? He will have a ticket . Will the visitors pass work for the EMH's?
So glad you pointed this out :thumbsup2

the reason they actually ask that you register each guest is in case of an emergency for that guest...when camping during hurricane Katrina we found out just how important it is for the park to know....think about that before you decide to not let them know...

If it were me, I would not tell them - it just confuses matters.

Now, if he wants to go in for EMH he will need a resort ID, so my previous suggestion won't work.

When I went to the front desk to register a guest, they said "that's ok. just forget about it." It must depend upon who's at the desk and it must be a nuisance for them to try to register a guest for a few days.

For EMH each person needs both a ticket and resort ID.

We're in a popup with little kids, so I'm more concerned about late night bathroom breaks than staying late at the parks. :lmao: But now I've figured out how to use our porta potti!

Will the front desk give him a resort ID if he's only there for a part of our trip and not on the original reservation? See..I knew this would get complicated!!

Yes they will, you'll probably have to pay the $2 a night extra to get the ID, but they should definitely give you one.

Then I guess that's what we'll do. They need the ID for the parks so the decision is made! Thanks everyone for your help:goodvibes

He needs it for EMH's. I forgot about that. I know we're going to go to them and I can't leave him behind. I mean, I can, but that won't be very "motherly" of me.:rolleyes1

You can stay in the park on EMH's if you don't have a resort ID, you just can't ride the rides. We've done this a few times for EMH's at Epcot, where we would just hang out during the EMH and shop and eat and drink, although those of us without a resort ID weren't able to go on any of the rides.

Hmm, didn't know that, I always had heard they check. Guess it depends on who's doing the checking?

We haven't done EMH since Dec, skipped them in April because of crowds, but I thought I remembered them scanning the resort ID? Not sure if that would put it in a central computer (wirelessly) and they would know if you tried to let someone else use your ID? Someone who works there would know for sure.

when we got our wristbands near the pirates, i thought they just looked at the card, and slapped a wristband on.

Last Oct, during EMH at Epcot, they were using scanners and swiping the resort ID's. A few nights later at MK, and they were just visually checking that you had an ID to get a wristband. I think luck may determine how critical the ID check for EMH will be

The official policy is that, yes, everyone has to be on the reservation. You can add an extra person through the front desk when they arrive. They will probably charge you the extra adult charge, but at least they will be "legal" and will get a Resort ID.

Since the DIS does not promote breaking Disney's rules, or ways of getting around the rules, I'm locking up this thread now. Everyone please refrain from sharing ways to break the rules from now on. If you want to share that information in a PM or email, that's up to you. But, since this is a public forum, I have to ask that it not be posted here.

Thank you!! :goodvibes
