So, I see the thread for a realistic food allowance but what if you want to just go off the rails?? Family of 3, 5 nights. How many Benjamins is needed?

I found that with my husband and I, $100-125 was realistic. I'd say maybe $200/day for two people is "unrealistic" and would allow for probably a nicer dinner and one (or two?) additional meals out. I think with Hawaii you could really tailor it any way you wanted. So I agree with the above, $100/person/day is a higher end budget.

you can easily drop $200 at dinner for 2 people at the higher end places. Without even going crazy at a regular restaurant myself, my husband and my son usually hit at least $100 (generally two drinks each and moderate meals, nothing fancy). So if you were talking 3 meals a day, going crazy with food, I'd probably say $200 a day.
