I dunno, that is a tough call. If you are looking at the name like "poo" as in "poop", then I would consider that somewhat inappropriate (but I like the word poo so I may not be a good judge of that being inappropriate :)) It's not like his name was willycrap or a worse word that starts with "s". But if it was just a cutesy name (like I sometimes call my DF "snugglepoo" ) then it may be okay.

P.S. you may want to fix the image in your sig!

MiaKoda

he is not talking about the poo part or at least I do not think he is...In other parts of the world like the UK a willie is another name for a part of the male anatomy.

So making the name inappropriate.

I have seen several like that I think are like Bluetata and a few others I can not recall right at this moment.

do do u think it should be unapropiate mal thx

:marcm:

Ok I said this at loud a few times and I do think with the white glove of proper manners on VMk would believe it should fit. Said slowly is sounds like this.

Will he poo?

This is a close call ,think they missed this one. But if they allowed toiletpaper maybe the two are friends that do need each other.

I agree it should not have been allowed, however VMK has been known to catch these innappropriate names and revert them back to guest #######. There is still the chance this will happen.

Since we're talking about the appropriateness of certain VMK names, can I ask a question? :)

Why can we say all colors except the color pink?? I tried making a mule with the name pink so that I could finally say it in VMK, but it was not approved.

I guess I live in a bubble, does pink mean something else that I'm not aware of? :confused3

There's also a Budwiesergal (spelled wrong, yes) floating out there somewhere...

and yes, pink can have a bad connotation when used in conjunction with other words referring to female anatomy. They don't allow the other word, either.

Well, If you wanna go that way, Blue can be used in conjunction with the male anatamy. But it's allowed. :)

So personally, I still can't understand why we can't say pink.

I don't think so purple maybe but not blue. I have never heard that and I have heard Pink referring to female body parts alot.

yes I do...along with tata's and a few others.

Posts like this crack me up because I have a mule that I have been trying to name for two months. The problem? I keep trying to use the names of fictional characters from literary works.

So far "HoldenCaulfield" (from "Catcher in the Rye") and "Heathcliff" (from "Wuthering Heights") among others, have been rejected.

Now mind you, one of my other mules - the far less literary "DZoolander" had his name approved with little incident. The only problem he had was that "Zoolander" and "DerekZoolander" had already been used by other players. So apparently characters from silly Ben Stiller movies are OK. Characthers from great works of fiction, not so much.

Blue definately can be bad for VMk. Because you can say baby. Remember when they used to show the Baby Blue movies at midnight. Always wanted to see them because the were the adult films in Canada they were on CityTV. Never did because I was too young. Now that was 25 - 30 years ago.

honestly.... you gotta be kidding me...

this "willypoo" is probably a kid named William, whise nickname is Willy, and he likes Winnie the Pooh, so he should be penalized for that? and now someone has a problem with the word "Blue" jeez - and we thought the VMK dictionary was bad, I am glad some of you arent running it.

Actually you really are not supposed to use your real name or nicknames as your character name for safety reasons...

I do not have a problem with blue or pink but I do have a problem with Willie, tata, bum, fanny, and quiet a few others that in this country and other countries have other connotations.

Mal, you can say that about just about every word in every language, they all "could" have alternate connotations. Oil, Boil, Part, Cart, Crab, Flounder, house, black, grey, crayon, pencil - where do you draw the line?

Start banning everything with a connotation and you will wind up with a dictionary of 3 words: and, of and the

mtlhddoc2 were is your sence of humour. Do you think we are being serious on this post. Like as if I care what name the allow or do not allow. And no I have no problem with blue I was just pointing out something since someone said there was conotations to the word pink but not blue. I know you are new on this board. But that was at little harsh do not you think. It is all in fun at what VMK allows and doesn't allow. Like toiletpaper is allowed but not trashman. Or the character going around as Budwiesergal but Surferrat git banned for 2 weks because he said jager. So I hope you catch your breath and see the fun in the post. And yes it could be a boy named Willy who likes pooh. We are not prudes here, just like to see the lighter side of things :)

And to think this went through and I couldn't be Scat Cat - an actual disney character from the Aristocats...

(Yes, I KNOW why 'scat' makes them nervous)

I hate to tell you this but last room when I was trying to made a new room description for my Halloween room they wouldn't let me say "the" as in "Come dance the night away".

Disney is forcing us to sound like morons.

I know this is long, if you don't feel like reading it all, at least please scroll down and read the red P.S. at end...I need a question answered. thanks! :cool1:

The dictionary is there to keep us safe, yes, but it hinders us more than VMK people realize, I think. Who knows: Willypoo could be totally innocent, or could have several combinations of different meanings if you misconstrue the variations of each word, willy and poo.

When I made my first comment, I was talking about the "poo" part, I didn't even consider "Willy" since my ex is named Will and his mom calls him Willie (which he hates~lol). So for that part my mind was out of the gutter, but now I can see that it could be a bad name. I'm sure the person's name is William and Willypoo could be a nickname his mom calls him or something.

as for "pink", I have thought of this from every angle and could not see how it could be used in the correct context to refer to anatomy. We can't say any of the other words that would have to go with it to make that connotation clear on VMK. We can't say "big" or "lick" or "slot" (as in "slot machine"). I'll leave it there.

Some other non-approved words I do not understand:

First off, the whole "not repeating something more than once" deal. I cannot stand when my room or photo description is not approved b/c I have too many periods on sentences. So, I have to use run-on sentences that make no sense!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(Did the !!!!!!! just b/c I CAN)
I understand why this is true with some words (eliminates plz plz plz plz plz omg omg omg omg) but punctuation? gimme a break. And have you ever had a descrption or something not approved b/c there was a certain LETTER used too many times? Or it says not approved and nothing is blinking red so you have no idea what the heck to change? Ok off my soapbox. Words I don't understand why we cannot use:
tonight (I say to night)
yesterday (I said day ago or last day. We can say tomorrow however b/c of tomorrowland!)
Some people's names and not others: someone was saying a Dis person's name and I could not say it. Also sometimes, I cannot even say "Miakoda" and sometimes I can. It goes back and forth.
contest: ppl have contests in their room, so why can't we say it? Same reason for
won (maybe that is so ppl won't use it for "one", but ppl still say "I" or "on".

And I can't think of any others, while I play VMK I'm sure I'll remember a few more. :rolleyes1

Hey, notice they took "hive" out of the dictionary? What do you guys use for "five" now? just curious. I'm not so creative at times and I say "for and on" or something (oops here I go again, trying to "dance" around the dictionary!)

numbers would be so useful to say, especially in games. Like, "okay only 6 ppl can play at a time" or "player number 4 wins! (if you can't say the player's name). "Red shirt girl wins" is too vague, especially if there is more than one red shirt girl. I think that kids should just be monitored by their parents and told not to give out their phone numbers. I think in this internet age, most kids already know that anyway. Kids are smarter than we give them credit for, and I am sure most of their parents teach them internet ettiquitte and safety before allowing them on. (FYI: I am scared of having children one day...I would not want to ban them from the 'net until they are 18 but so scared of what they may find on there....I know there are way to restrict them from adult sites, but who knows what they may see/read on a non-"adult" site)

Back to the # thing: there is no way to ask for a phone number since you can't say "phone" "call" or "number", or "ring" (that's another one I don't get, "ring")

I have gotten a phone call while chatting several times and tried to tell the person, and could find no way to say "i'm on the phone" or "someone is ringing" or "calling me". I have to tell them brb someone is at my door! LOL.

Okay I know there is another thread about the dictionary and I am going off on a tangent here. Back to the topic: Willypoo is, I'm sure, just a nickname. I give ppl the benefit of the doubt. Maybe whoever approved it just saw it that way too and did not consider "willy" or "poo" with other meanings. I do not get "toiletpaper" though, LOL! Who would want that name anyhow?

:flower: Mia :flower:

P.S. I have been wondering something for ages now and I have never remembered to ask. I noticed that most everyone (except me) has ### every so often when they put in an unapproved word. That does not happen to me. The word blinks red in the text entry box and I cannot press enter until I change it. Does anyone else have this? I feel I am the only one who does not get the ###.

Most likely b/c you had already used the word "the" twice. Another ridiculous restriction.
