Unpopular WDW foodie loves?

The whole fried fish at Skipper Canteen. It's delicious, but people avoid it because they don't want to be reminded that their food once had a face.

This is exactly what I want to order when we go! With a whole fish, you at least know what you're getting. Filets are often called something they aren't at restaurants...it's a big deal in the industry.

I honestly didn't mention The Samoan cuz I've posted about it being my favorite meal like 6 times in the past month!! Lol, I thought people would start thinking I was a walking advertisement, LOVE it!!!

This was my favorite thing on our first trip. I don't care for sweets and the other Kona faves sound awful to me.

Crab Nachos at the bar in The Blue Zoo.

Captains Grill breakfast - Darn Chocolate waffles with expresso mascarpone cream MMMMMMMmmmmmmmm.

Crab Cakes (or really anything) at Olivia's at OKW.

Olivia's is terrific! It's not exotic or anything, the selections are just normal things you'd see in a lot of places outside the world but everything is a couple of notches better than other WDW eateries. We've never had bad food there (no matter what you eat get an order of onion rings.) Olivia's doesn't qualify as "unpopular" but it's a bit off the beaten path if you're not staying at OKW (which is also highly recommended.):earsboy:

Another not unpopular place but others have mentioned it is Yorkshire County. In my experience the food is always fresh & hot, I tried the fish & chips inside Rose & Crown and it wasn't as hot & crispy as Yorkshire. Rose & Crown is a great spot for a drink though. :earsboy:

Captain's Grill sounds like it's a place I should try.

That's whole fish at Skipper's is very enticing...I'm hoping that the food and the drinks now there will give me a solid MK dinner place, especially if they'll seat after Wishes some nights!

We love Olivia's. We stayed at OKW for our first WDW visit 2 years ago. We ate there 3 times and loved everything. It isn't fancy food but the food is good and reasonably priced compared to other locations. It was nice to walk up and be able to be seated at a Disney resort. The Turtle Krawl is my favorite drink on property.

Frozen Kirin draft beer in the Japan pavilion at EPCOT. As soon as we grab ours we immediately get stopped by people asking where they can buy one. Every. Time.

The Bavarian cheesecakes on the dessert buffet at Biergarten. Not overly sweet, super creamy, and very memorable. Everyone tends to skip over them because they don't look very exciting compared to the other dessert options, which means more for me. I'd take these over a zebra dome any day of the week.

As far as restaurants go, The Wave at the Contemporary. I've said it before and I'll keep saying it: you won't find a better breakfast on property. Their lunch, dinner, and lounge menus are all superb as well, and it's rarely busy.

And now for the most controversial statement I'll make: I love the Joffrey's coffee Disney serves in all its restaurants and Club Level lounges. It's wonderful. And I'm a self-described coffee snob.

The other is long gone probably because people just think its gross :( My father and I used to search harder and harder every year for the last remaining CS topping bars with a liquid cheese dispenser (aka liquid Gold), Cosmic Ray's and Backlots were the last 2 standing if I'm remembering correctly, when they went we knew an era was over.

It was my understanding that the hot cheese was removed because a child (who probably should not have been using it unattended, but...) got burned.

That's interesting. As a beer snob I recognize that frozen beer is a no no, but if it's some crummy domestic brew (let's say Budweiser) and it gets iced up a bit in the cooler, I'm not complaining.

I didn't know Joffrey's wasn't considered a premium brand. Compared to the NesCafe swill Disney used to serve it's a god-send.:)

Nope! That incident occurred years before the cheese was removed. One has nothing to do with the other.

It's regular frozen draft Kirin with a "frozen" beer topping. The topping has a frozen coke type of consistency and keeps the draft beer beneath it super ice cold from first sip to last. It looks like an extra frothy foam head. It's amazing. My husband and I are beer aficionados and it's the one drink we will order multiple times in a single Disney trip.

The Samoan Eggs at Kona Cafe. Everyone rants about Tonga Toast, but I don't see too many people drooling over their Samoan Eggs. They are seriously one of the best breakfast dish I've ever had.
Wow! I just googled images of that... I have to get that! Looks amazing!

Two under-rated restaurants... Morocco... especially Tangeriene Cafe... never a bad meal there. Sleepy Hollow breakfast waffle with the prosciutto on it... oh my!

This. In fact, the whole biergarten experience far exceeded expectations. It is one of those you can always get a last minute ADR for but the food was quite good and not just "for buffet food."

Also the shrimp and grits at the coral reef - coral reef gets a lot of hate and I never see this one reviewed really. It was really good.

and oddly enough, the wings at Sci Fi Dine in. This is another one that is known for atmosphere more than food but the appetizer wings were perfection - perfectly cooked, perfectly crispy, the sauce was a little sweet and a little hot. They were soooo good.

Agree with all of this!

The butternut squash soup at AKL (Boma and Mara).

I LOVE that butternut squash soup. FYI, they say that it comes from the same pot whether it's going to Boma or Mara. But I think it tastes better at Mara-probably because it costs less! One night, I had a sample at Boma (during the Culinary Tour), then right afterwards went to Mara and had a bowl. Did you know that soup's excellent for breakfast, lunch, and dinner?
Also, we love eating at Nine Dragon's restaurant.

Speaking of Morocco, I agree!
DS and I love to go there for lunch & get the Combo app for 2 - Beef Brewat Rolls, Chicken Bastilla, and Jasmina Salad $17.99
Phenominal lunch for 2 and we always get the Moroccan Mint tea
It's good cold or hot and they pour it just like in Morocco from high up not spilling a drop!
