Unpacking...

I do a bit of both honestly. I will hang anything I need to hang, like dresses. Considering I mostly wear short cotton dresses with bike shorts, that's most of my luggage haha. I will keep the bike shorts, socks, and underwear in the suitcase and just grab what I need the night before.

I hang everything I possibly can. I bring my own hangers! :)
Shorts/pants in drawers. Although now I'm grossed out about it...
Sleepwear, underwear and socks usually sit in my luggage until i use them and I have no idea my reasoning behind that...

*This is a general vacation thing for us since we haven't stayed onsite at Disney before*

We don't unpack. We keep our clothing in our suitcases. I've been using the packing cubes for over a year now. I love mine (1 large, 1 medium, 1 small) and I do a combo of rolling and folding depending on what I'm packing and how it fits in the packing cube.

Toiletries and the bags/containers they were usually get put into the bathroom area though.

When I'm packing using the cubes I put underwear and socks and sometimes tank tops in the smallest one, medium one gets other shirts, and the large one typically gets pants/shorts/skirts/pjs.

For dirty clothes I bring a couple of Walmart, etc type bags and put the clothes in there once they get dirty (that way they aren't all over the place). On the way home things get reorganized due to the dirty clothes but the bags help keep them separated from the clean clothes to begin with.

Before packing cubes I still treated dirty clothes the same way and still didn't unpack I just had to keep clothes separated and packed for the vacation differently.

I can't stand to live out of a suitcase so I unpack. I hang things that I don't want getting wrinkled on the shelves and put my other clothes in the drawers. Whenever I stay in a Value resort, I always unfold the ironing board and use it as shelf for my makeup and toiletries. Also, I take my handy dandy collapsible hamper from the dollar store for dirty clothes.

We also use the ironing board as another table surface.

Not sure we still can at Pop with the refurb. Hoping to find out in November.

What do you use for a carry on bag?

I use a LUG brand bag called "Puddle Jumper II". I slide it on over the handle of my Titan wheeled carry on. It is amazing how much can be easily packed into these two bags. On shorter trips (6 days or less) I can make do with those two.

The Lug is a Canadian brand that is known for its many and varied pockets.
We LOVE all the pockets and the separately zippered and contained 'dirty' pocket at the bottom. We use that for a wet swimsuit if staying late on departure day, or for sandals when arriving (so we can switch out for our winter boots at the airport)

Unpack! We pack a full days clothes in ziplock bags. We leave them in the bags until we wear them. After they are worn they go back into the ziplock and back into the suitcase at that time. Not fun coming home opening all those stinky ziplock bags but sure makes it easier packing back up as we go. Just sad middle of the trip when you start seeing less and less clothes in the drawers :(

We always unpack unless it is just for one night (we pack a smaller bag for that one night only). We always drive, so we use the smaller laundry basket for shoes and other awkward things to pack. Then I use the laundry basket for dirty clothes and do the laundry in the villa (we're DVC and usually stay in one bedrooms or larger) when it looks like more than one or two loads. We don't use packing cubes, just pack stuff together in the suitcase (usually only one big one for me and my husband). Put it all away in the dresser drawers, hang up any polos or pants. If it needs ironing, we don't own it.

Housekeeping will bring you extra hangers. I call down almost every time for more. I need all the space in my luggage I can get.:)

Next trip I will go back to my unpacking but I hang up everything. Anything that can't be hung up stays in the suitcase. It makes life so much easier imo.
We do this when we stay in a room in Alligator Bayou at POR. There isn't very much drawer space there.

One great thing I learned years ago for shampoo, toiletries, liquids.... when we buy sheets, I save the heavy duty plastic zippered cases they're packaged in (pillow case ones, twin size sheets work best). The bottles stand up in them, then I throw in an old washcloth in. If anything should happen to leak or pop open, the washcloth soaks it up and the plastic is so heavy, nothing gets out!

I hang my clothing but leave my undergarments and sleepwear in my packing cubes in the drawers or on a shelf.

I do this whether I'm there 2 nights or 7 nights.

Overnight I do tend to leave things in my bags unless my clothing is wrinkle prone. (which I try not to travel with anyway)

I'm a fan of packing cubes and rarely have anything 'loose' in my bag. I seem to be a magnet for TSA searches. Last trip to D.C. my suitcase was inspected both coming and going. :tilt: Maybe my clothes look guilty or something. LOL Anyway the cubes are nice since they keep everything contained. I have never had them open the cubes just the suitcase itself.

I do use a plastic bag for dirty clothes. Funny thing is most of my dirty clothes bags are from WDW. I either use the yellow ones they give you for Laundry service or those giant ones that I always seem to get at World of Disney and The Disney Store. I swear you buy one thing and they give you a bag that would hold a ottoman. I take them home and keep them in my travel area and throw one in my suitcase when packing for a trip.

I've always hung everything I could (a bit concerned by what looks like a smaller "closet" in the new rooms at Pop) and kept everything else in packing cubes in my suitcase.

When the kids were young I used the Ziplock bag method for them.

My hotel room in London had a teeny tiny hanging area that was tucked into a unit like those I saw in the new POP rooms only there were dark wood and it wan in the middle of the wall so you could actually reach in from both sides. I hated it. It was crowded and dark and hard to flick through clothes to choose what I wanted. For all the complaints about Disney's Value/Moderate closets I actually really like that they are long and in the open. It's so much easier to see and to sort.

This is a game changer!!!! I've never thought about that, but you are so right!!!!

And we're unpackers. It makes us feel like we are home. For single night trips we use our overnight bag, though.

Oh most certainly unpack and put in drawers! I, like everyone else want to feel at home. We also bring a pop up hamper for our dirty clothes...when it's full, I do laundry. We never stay for under 10 days and this time we are staying 15! I bring detergent and softener sheets for my laundry. I never can figure out what to do with all my shoes though! my floor looks like a mess all the time.

I pack all liquids in ziplock bags but this is a good idea too.

I also bring two trash bags. I put all of the dirty clothes in one bag and line the suitcase with the other bag. Then I throw in two dryer sheets into that luggage. I keep dryer sheets in my luggage even when they're in the closet between trips.
