Unpacking on vacation...?

I 'll pack a small bag for the clothes, swim suits...if only staying 1 or 2 nighs before moving resorts and keep the toiletries in a sep. duffle with laptop, phone chargers and such that comes in with us. Do the same if traveling by car with a couple nights on the road and leave the bigsuitcase for the final destination. Longer stays I put everything in drawers and closet. I pack by outfit so I just pull the stack of items for each into drawer/shelf. Cruise-4 night or longer is full unpack.

With dh we always have to unpack and find a place for everything. Which can be difficult when staying in a small hotel room for 9 nights :rotfl2:.

Valerie unpacks everything.

Left to myself, if it were just an overnight, I wouldn't unpack.

I always unpack, even if its just an overnight. Otherwise, I'd forgot what I'd brought with me!

I have to say that I don't unpack, though I do make piles of stuff on top of chairs and dressers.

My kids love to unpack and put everything in the dressers.

When I am on a cruise however I unpack everything, as there just isn't room to have the suitcases lying around open.

Even when I visited my sister in France, I didn't unpack and she doesn't unpack when she visits here.

I unpack everything. I can't stand living out of suitcases. I've always found the drawers and closets in the Disney accommodations to be very clean, and I like to have things put away and organized. I use the empty suitcases for laundry.

If I am going to be there longer then a couple nights I unpack. I hate living out of a suitcase. Plus I feel like there is more room when the suitcases are put away.

We unpack as well. If we do a split stay and it's only 2 or 3 nights in one place first, I try to put the things we'll need for those nights on top and just unpack those.
Once we get to our "real" resort- we completely unpack. Like someone else said- there are a few things in the Owner's Locker that don't always need to come out- so they stay packed.
For the podcast cruise trip- we're doing 2 nights, then 4 on the ship, then 3 nights after. I'm not sure what I'm going to do for that trip! :confused3

I always unpack for more than 2 nights. I hate having the suitcases out taking up room and reminding me of leaving. Plus I like to hang up all my shirts. I even use the drawers in the bathroom and put things in there. I just like to have things put away.

all meds go in the safe..........i travel with vicodin and wife travels with darvocet and i feel very strongly that it would be a great temptation to the cleaning staff.

That's very sensible! :thumbsup2

Depends how long we are there. For example this holiday:

4 nights at Royal Pacific- half unpack, just the essentials for those days.

7 nights at Pop- completely unpack

3 nights at Beach Club Villas- out of the suitcase since we got fed up of packing and unpacking, but I wanted to unpack, however there wasn't much space to put things!

I wipe out the drawers with a clorox wipe and then unpack suitcase into drawers or hang in closet. I use a pop up hamper for the dirty clothes. We did a split stay once and although both resorts were fabulous, I hated the time it took to switch.

I always unpack. I like to feel like my room is my home. I put stuff in the drawers and hang the good clothes. I also have a collapsible organizer that has about 5 compartments and hangs in the closet. I then put my empty duffel bag on the floor between the bed and the wall and put my dirty clothes in it.

Hmmm, now that I think about it, I guess unpacking doesn't make my room feel like home. It's at home I tend to not unpack. My clothes tend to stay in the laundry basket and I pull things out as needed! :lmao:

For me, it depends on the trip. Usually though, since I make short trips, I unpack and use my luggage to store my dirty clothes.

I have to unpack. I can't stay in a hotel longer than two days and not unpack. I just get frazzled going through my suitcase to look for clothes.

It's just John and I and we usually drive to our vacation locations so most of the clothes hang in the car on the way down and then straight to the closet, we unpack the rest.

For me it depends on the trip. I usually hang up clothes that will wrinkle .. I have lived out of the suitcase and I have unpacked. I always have either a pop up laundry basket or a laundry bag with me for dirty clothes.

I never unpack. You never know what was in those draws. Aside from hanging wet items, everything stays in our bags until needed. With two kids the last thing I want is stuff spread all over the place. We bring a few draw string kitchen garbage bags for dirty clothes. At the end of the trip we just draw up the bags and stuff them in our suitcase, clean and dirty never mingle ;).

I also never check bags for a Disney trip of a week or less, but that is another story.

I always unpack even if it's just me traveling to a work conference. I like to have each day's outfit ready to go.
When we travel with the kids, we share suitcases. Each suitcase has a bit of everyone's stuff. That way if we lose a bag, we still have some stuff for each person. With a family of 5, that means total disorder! I'd rather have everything put away neatly (usually in outfits) than dig through lots of stuff each day!
I guess I'm just a bit neurotic! :lmao:

I only unpack my toiletries and hang up the clothes for the next day. I have a great suitcase that has mesh zippered pockets. They are like built in packing cubes. On cruises I do unpack tho. Having to drag my suitcase out from under the bed is a pain.

I do change resorts at WDW. In December it was GF & AKL. It is just me so I don't mind. This Sept/Oct trip I will be at OKW and POP.
