Unpack or live out of suitcases????

I'm with those that unpack and use the suitcase for worn clothing. I also like to bring fabric softner sheets with me. I put them in the bottom of the drawer. It keeps the clothes smelling drying fresh. I just make sure to check the drawers before I leave.

I unpack and use the suitcase for dirty clothes as well. We never do long trips but I still think unpacking and using the drawers gives me more of a feeling that I live there!!!:rotfl:

I always unpack. That way I can toss my dirty stuff right back into the suitcase. Plus, I can't seem to keep my clothes folded and neat if I try to just pull them out of the suitcase to wear them. Unpacking works for me.

I take a garbage bag for dirty clothes, and we live out of suitcases. If we didn't, our toddler would constantly empty the drawers onto the floor! (Rule #8A of Toddlerhood: If it is full, it must be emptied!) This past trip at CSR, I did manage to empty his suitcase into the top drawer - it was too high for him to reach into.

Me too!! Even for 3 nights, I want to feel I'm not leaving anytime soon!:goodvibes

Do use wipes in the drawers and since I'm old-fashioned (and old LOL), pack with tissue paper, then use that to line the drawers! :)

We request extra laundry bags and use those for dirty clothes - which work great in the suitcase for travel home. :)

I always unpack. I hate tripping over suitcases. The only time DH is unpacked on vacation is when I do it.

We live out of the suitcases. I don't want to waste the time to unpack and I don't want to forget anything. It's also a habit from our yearly trips to Hershey where the hotels we stayed in weren't exactly as nice as the ones in Disney. Didn't know what was in those drawers!

The only thing I unpack is the little organizer that holds all our toiletries, and I hang that up. We put dirty clothes in a garbage bag.

I live out of my suitcase, wife uses all the drawers and hangers and unpacks. I put dirty clothes in a room laundry bag, request more then when its time to leave, squash all the air out of them and stuff them in my bag. Been doing this for years, our 39th trip just over and I never run out of clothes and have very little not worn at the end, its just about a science for me anymore but wife always ends up with a pile of unworn clothes. One bag each but I try to keep the weight down on mine. She pulls hers and I pull mine, if you want it, take it but you also haul it.

We also unpack. We also hang up most everything except for underwear and socks. We also wash a couple times during the trip. It is much quicker to use multiple washers at the laundromat than it is to wash 1 load at a time at home. Plus we always stretch our vacations as long as possible, so we are right back at work the next morning after getting home. The only thing we bring in the house that first night is hubby's CPAP and our wallets/phones, etc. We have duplicate toiletries that only go on vacation, so don't need those at home. We go straight to bed upon getting home and order pizza and unpack when we get home from work the next night.

Live out of suitcase...just never crossed my mind to unpack after all these years of traveling. I also will hide things in my suitcase - nothing valuable really - just so maids wont take it. I figure if I cant find anything in my suitcase...neither can they. LOL Dirty laundry does in garbage bags which then I launder before heading home.

I always unpack--even on business trips for just one or two nights.

When we go to WDW, or any other hotel, I use one drawer, DH has another, and rest of drawers, cabinets are for food, supplies. I just wipe out the drawers w/ a damp paper towel to get out any dust/debris. Suit cases get stacked in corner out of the way, and pop up hamper is in the closet for dirty clothes. We each have a toiletry case that we zip up and put on the closet shelf after we finish our showers.

We just check the drawers when we leave.

I just can't take stuff strewn around--everything has to be put away or it drives me crazy.

I have been debating the same thing for our first family trip. I have gotten so many helpful ideas here on the boards.

I have decided to prepack each day's outfit in a big ziplock bag and label for the kids the day to be worn and then place it in the drawers. Once clothing is used, put back in bag, sqeeze out air and zip to suitcase. This way it should save time in the morning when dressing and keep things semi-organized! Best laid plans of course.

Counting down - 33 days until we see the Poly! Hopefully we will have enough drawers for the 5 of us.

Wow, I didn't realize we were so unusual! We never unpack except for maybe hanging up a few particularly wrinkle prone items. We just pull clothes out of suitcases as we wear them. Dirty clothes go on the floor under the suitcase that is on the rack or on the floor of the closet.

I usually unpack in stages.

There are 5 of us, and vacations are normally about a week. So usually my husband will take the kids down to the pool while I unpack.

I unpack enough clothes for the first few days. Socks, underwear, clothes, PJS.. the works. Then, about midweek, I unpack the rest. All the "just in case" stuff stays in the suitcase.

The drawers are empty enough that the kids can find the clothes they need. But I'm able to stow the suitcases somewhere out of the way, or put one inside another, for a few days.

Last year my husband found some LARGE (as in suitcase sized) ziploc bags. We brough them along and used them as hampers for dirty clothes. They were GREAT!!

Always unpack. Hate trying to find things in suitcases. I always bring tissue paper to line the drawers. I pack it in the outside pockets of our suitcase. I hate having my clothes in an unlined drawer.

I always unpack, unless we are just staying 1 night. I like the ease of getting my clothes from a drawer and the tidiness of having the suitcases, etc., put away. Plus, I always bring a folding laundry basket for the dirty clothes. I bought one at Wal-Mart and it has a pocket for dryer sheets. (You could put your mini M&M's containers with quarters in them in the pocket, too, but since we stay DVC, we don't need quarters.) It drives me crazy to have dirty clothes in my suitcase where my clean clothes will be. I keep the folding basket in our suitcases when we aren't using them so we always have them with us.
DH doesn't care to unpack and always says "we aren't unpacking this time, are we?"

I have all my stuff in zip-loc bags, sorted by catagory. Shorts and T-shirts in 2 1/2 gallon size, undies & socks in gallon size and quart size for small items. DH just throws his in the suitcase and moves them to the drawers. I worry about bugs and dirty drawers. He doesn't worry about anything. To each his own. I find I can get more stuff in my suitcase with the bags because I can squeeze the air out of them before they go in. It is also easier to find things in the drawers with everything being sorted. Half the time DH adds stuff to his stuff by just throwing it in the car before we leave, so sometimes it looks like he's living out of the car:lmao:
