I am looking for a value room 11/8-11/10. I had heard to slide the dates around a bit and sometimes inventory will pop up. Found AsMu for 11/8-11/14. Does not show up when I search 11/8-11/10. Notes a two night minimum. I booked it for the full 6 nights and figured I'd modify the reservation down to just the two nights I need. It won't let me do it. Is there a trick? Should I call? Or am I out of luck?

You should be able to finalize the longer reservation and then call guest services to have the extra days removed. You are well within your window to cancel in full if they say no, which they shouldn't.

Some people are still being allowed to shorten by calling in, others are denied. It appears to require some sort of Guest Services override. I’d say it’s worth a shot, just cancel if they say no.

That is not a sure thing like it once was. For months reports have been Disney not allowing guests to book longer stays and then take days off. OP should call and see what they will do, but be prepared to be told no. Anyone's guess on here on if they will do it or not.

I'd really like to hear what company policy is being stated by guest services to those that are denied the reduced stay.

I tried to cut out reservation (package) by two days. It came with free dining. They have me the option of leaving everything as is, or pay an additional $1,600 for two nights less stay. The difference, they wanted me to pay for the dining plan. Needless to say, we kept what we had.

When a room only reservation, Disney does not want to leave "orphan" rooms.

I was able to book one night at port orleans riverside through priceline.
If you book through Priceline are you still able to use ME? I just tried to book one night at ASMo at the beginning of our Poly stay specifically to get in a day early and use ME. I inadvertently let it choose the end date and when I realized it was a week stay instead of a night stay, it gave me no availability. In fact the price at ASSp which was showing in my initial search jumped $70 for one night. I’d love more information on booking a WDW hotel through Priceline if ME is included.

Book through Priceline or another OF A with availability.

Get your Disney (not travel company) reservation number.

Call Magical Express.

Book Magical Express.

a single leftover day is available to book as a new reservation. The issue is somebody wanting to rent that room for that one night.

Right so how can Disney deny you in advance if they can't know for sure a single night won't be used? Locals love single nights. Seems super shady to me.

First, the hotelier can do whatever it wants within applicable laws.

It is entirely because the hotel does not know whether they will be able to rent out the reservation they had been holding for you for the nights you eventually choose to drop, that they oppose allowing reservations to be modified down.
