Feeling the need to do something towards planning next year's trip, I ordered the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World 2006 from play.com

It arrived yesterday and I've hardly put it down since. Much as I love the Brits Guide, this book is great and really amusing in places.

My favourite line so far has to be (touring tips for It's a Small World) "If you wear a hearing aid, turn it off" :rotfl2:

As an aside, am I the only person who found the song on Carousel of Progress more annoying than the It's a Small World one?

I must say this is my favorite book for planning from and some of the quotes are so funny :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Claire ;)

I like this one too - though I actually read both regularly! Sad isn't it?

Its the Bible in our house
i have got huggy the 2006 one for Xmas
So have to hide it when he is about
most not let it get to read looking

BTW it's the only present I have bought yet
No hurry

I got this a couple of weeks ago but it seems the same as the previous years.

Is there anything new?

Susan

the comments that people write in are also very interesting...

and i find the room recommendations (with specific room numbers) extremely helpful.....i've used it to reserve specific rooms on my reservations....

I especially found the ones about kids running out screaming and parents running for the exits during ITTBAB quite humerous.

I too have both!!

As our trip in January is a christmas surprise for the kids I keep having to hide the books when they are around.

My DH can't understand that reading/planning is all part of the enjoyment of the holiday for me - but he is quite happy to benefit from all the homework when he is there. He does get a bit grumpy though if I insist on walking past 5 other restuarants to get to a particular one that has been recommended in a guide book, especially if he is hungry! Anyone else have this experience?

Does anyone take them with them to the parks, or just keep them in their hotel rooms to swot up on the night before to plan for the next day?

My DH just doesn't get the 'planning' stuff either. He refuses to even look at the books and just says 'You plan it dear, I'll just turn up'. He also can't understand why I can't just decide a week before we go what we might do when we get there :rotfl:

I don't take the books with me to the parks but, as the UG has cut-out tour guides in the 2006 version, I might take those with me next year. I do tend to read up the night before on the park we intend to visit the next day though.

I love the UOG - humourous and I love the level of detail!

As Disney songs go, the COP was quite "catcy" until you get stuck in the ride for 45 mins and then it's downright bloody annoying!!! I still find myself humming "it's a bright new wonderful tomorrow" and wondering where on Earth I got it from!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

how do you get stuck on that ride for 45 minutes? didn't they just have everyone get up and leave?

You would have thought - but NO!!!! It was stuck between decades, and they said that they could fix it, but made everyone wait and stay sat down!!!
