Unofficial Guide MYW Dining Plan Review

and they confirmed that they are NOT differentiating between adult and child credits in your bank of meals. I find that fascinating. So instead of 16 Adult and 8 Child meals we have a pool of 24 counter service meals to use over 8 days. It would make ever-so-much more sense if they would just say that kids can order anything from counter service and have to order from the kids menu at table service. If DS and I are sharing an adult counter meal how are they going to keep that all straight? We would use 2 counter credits (one for me, one for DH), so then are all of the remaining credits still valid for adult meals? Since the VAST majority of the restaurants do offer a kids menu you would think they would be trying harder to restrict kids to the kids menus. I just don't see how they can NOT track the redemptions by classification (adult or child). They must be combining them to make it easier on the CM's, but it makes me nervous.

A good idea, susan137. What's the cost of a sit-down kid's meal, around $6? With a family of four, over a couple of days, you could pay for the child sit-down meals out of pocket, and use them as the second meal in the signature restaurants. That might work out well! The question still remains whether everyone can eat all of that food every day, but I'm not sure how we'd address that.

Thanks for the tip!

Len, I think I would feel alot better about getting the plan if this is the way it works out. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and axiously waiting for some more trip reports.

Hi Len,
You said that the DDE is only for resort residents who have purchased the MYW ticket. I'ts my understanding that the DDE can be purchased by AP Holders and FL residents staying on property. You might want to clarify this or even, put in a bit of history of the DDE (starting off as a perk for FL residents and now being offered to all vacationers).

Donna

forgive me, but where is the reference to the DDE? I can't find it. Thanks

The DDE program is not the same program as adding the dining plan to your MYW tickets and rooms, DDE cost $75 and gives basicly a 20% off at restraunts.

So basicly you can share meals if you would like and save up those points for other meals, now most people will not do this, but if your really tring to get the most for your money, it might be the way to go. I have a 10 year old who is basicly really small for her age who will probally have to get adult meals, it seems to me she could easily share with her four year old sister and not waste food herself, We save the 4 years olds points when we don't buy her a meal and in the end we can go to a special 2 point dinner at some point in our trip. Still paying the same amount and enjoying the trip that much more.
Now to get a deluxe room at value prices!!! Watch out! :teeth:

It's good to know before you buy and thanks to all for this information. If you buy the dining option and ticket option and make your room only into a package, since the dining and resort room are taxed at the 11.5% and 13%, are the tickets also taxed at these rates? I'm hearing conflicting advice, not on this thread but another. :earsgirl:

If the tickets are part of the package, yes, they're taxed at the resort rate. Ouch.

Len
