Looking for opinions on whether I should buy the newest Unofficial Guide. The last one I purchased was before MDE, FEA, new Fantasyland. We are WDW regulars, DVC members and AP holders so we are by no means newbies (been over 50 times), just wondering if there is enough new info from the past 3 years to buy it. TIA

The "Editorial Reviews" section on Amazon has a list of the major changes made to the book each year. Here's a list of what changed in the 2015 edition; in the 2016; and in the 2017.

Some text, like the parenting tips, the background information on the hotels, and the attraction overviews, don't change much from year to year. My suggestion would be to check that list for anything important to you, then see what's available free on the book's website and other places, and go from there.

If you want it for purely entertainment purposes, then I'd get it, but otherwise, I can't imagine there's anything in there that you don't already know or that you couldn't easily find here.

Honestly, there wasn't a huge difference between the 2017 and 2016 versions of the book...plus a lot of the reader comments were the same from the 2013 edition. I would check and see if your local library has it.

Thanks, Len, for dropping in again! :-)

While you're here: Does the Lines app send Alerts to changes in Park Hours?

My initial reply was "My kid just started college, so yeah, buy the book." :P

Interesting idea on the park hours alerts. We can do it. Let me ask our users if they'd want to see it too.
Very cool: both college news and the possible app addition! Thanks! :-)

I generally get guidebooks from the library. And I always get the most recently published, but with the awareness that there's a lag between research and publication.

I had a trip to Ireland slightly messed up by an outsated guidebook so you really want the most recent.

This "Liner" would love to see the app alert to park hour changes!

Wow, now I feel old. I still remember the old WDW Today podcast episodes where you did Trip Reports from trips with your daughter.

BTW, I really miss the old podcast with you, Matt & Mike. "Memories, like the corners of my mind...."

Definitely enjoying reading through my copy of the 2017 edition. I had been before and have found the information on the changes really helpful. This game have changed so much with MDE and fast passes. The steps they have to help you get what you want is very helpful, and I LOVE the honesty and humour in the book!

@hiroMYhero @ThornXBL @tiggerluver12 and @CJN - Today we released a 'park hours tracker' on the site, based on this post from March '17. Thanks for the suggestion!

That's awesome, Len! Thank you!

I saw the blog post on TP about this update and it reminded me of this thread, haha
