I was wondering what people thought about the "report card" grades and "good rooms and bad rooms" mentioned in the Unofficial Guide 2003. What do you agree or disagree with? For example, I was surprised at the low rating that OKW got for check-in. I thought it was one of the better check-in experiences we've had. So what did you all think?

Simba,

Sometimes you have to take all of the guides with a grain of salt. It could have been that OKW was having a bad day when the Unofficial Guide people were there.

I am not certain how many people responded to the surveyfor OKW, but it could be a low number. Normally the Unofficial Guide is pretty good because it doesn't have alot of Disneyese in it.

Most of the time the Unofficial Guide is right on.

I have read at least 3 editions of the Unofficial Guide, and don't take much stock in most of the grades. What is one person's hut, is another person's castle... and you never know what kind of day those people were having when they graded everything.

If I paid attention to the restaurant reviews, I am afraid I would be eating at very few Disney run restaurants... and I have only found one I didn't like in the past 9 years that we have been going on a regular basis.

I will add something to my previous post. I have also read several editions, and for the most part there aren't alot of revisions to what has been said in previous years.

Mainly the bulk of the revision comes from new attractions, restaurants, or resorts opening up. If a restaurant, resort, or attraction received favorable or unfavorable reviews in say 3 editions ago, chances are that review hasn't really changed all that much in the current edition.

I still like the Unofficial Guide because it isn't Disney corporate speaking to you, unlike some of the other guides out there.

I might suggest that you check out the Disney Passporter. I was quite surprised with the information given in this book, and it contains kid reviews from an actual kid!!

Last year I booked CBR for our family and my neighbor's family. She had borrowed a copy of a the unofficial guide and questioned my choice based on some of the negative comments made. WEll we stuck with it and both families had a fabulous time.
