Unlocked cell phone question

I want to purchase a unlocked phone on ebay. I have a sim card in my phone now and want to know if all I have to do is install the sim card into the new unlocked phone and then it works?? I know this seems simple but I just don't know. If I buy the phone through cingular I have pay full price on ebay I can get one for about 1/2. Anybody know?

I bought a Unlocked Boost/Nextel from E-bay and just put a sims card in it . DD has been using it for about a year with her Sims in it with no problems at all.

The Boost is not even suppose to work with the Nextel network but it does just fine once unlocked.

Just make sure the sellers seems trustworthy and offers a refund if it doesn't work.You will find out right away as soon as you put your sims in.

Yes.

Just make sure it is indeed unlocked.

Also you may want to check. I belive Cingular runs off of 850 mhz ad 1900 mhz. Some phones don't have the 850. I may be mistaken but I think I am sure.

double check with the seller that it is unlocked. My DH bought one that said in the description that it was unlocked and once we got it we found out it was not so now we are going rounds and trying to get the right software to get the phone unlocked....what a pain in the butt!!!!
