Unlinked Star Wars Magic Bands?

I've noticed a few eBay auctions for the LE Star Wars Magic Bands that say they are unlinked. I was there when they first went on sale and they were definite that they had to be linked to a physical band or card (I had wanted them to link to my account so my family could all use one).

Any idea how they are selling them unlinked?

I am wondering the same thing myself. We were there weekend 3 and would have loved to buy the magic bands.

Don't know the answer to the question but we did notice some special star wars MB's still on sale at DHS just a couple of days ago.

If anyone sees these in DHS, can you find out for me if they still need to be linked at time of purchase?

I know in order to purchase one you need a ticket to put on it. Now for example one can have multiple magic bands but they don't all have to be active. You just have to put a ticket on it to purchase it. So I guess one could sell a magic band and then the new owner could put there ticket on their through MDE using the serial number. I'm not totally sure but that may work.

I think it would work if the band was never linked to another MDX account. Because you can deactivate a band on an MDX account but you cannot remove it, and you cannot have one band linked to two accounts.

When I bought my SWW bands, they forced me to link them to my account on the spot. I agree you cannot transfer them.

I bought one the other day for my GS and it had to be linked to his Annual pass. I did not have his on me that day and tried to have them link it to mine but they say you can not link it. Once it is on my annual pass it can not go to another one. So I had to go back with his annual pass to buy the mb. So I have no idea at all how they can be selling them on ebay unlinked.

When we purchased our Darth Vader MBs we had to have our park media with us to purchase them. They linked them on the spot and would not sell an unlinked MB. We purchased one for DS(10) while he was at Space Camp at KSC. Luckily, I had his AP with me. If I did not have his AP, they would not have sold me his MB.

I was able to buy a Darth Vader band today at legends of Hollywood. They also had Yoda available.
Hope that helps
