Unlinked reservations - will they make me move?

When we made reservations for BLT in March, we had to wait list for two of our 7 nts. We ultimately got those two nts and they linked our reservations. The room type is the same for both reservations.

Now -- I'd like to have DxDP, but only for the first reservation, which is 5 nts. I was told that I could do that, but only if I unlink my reservations.

With the increase in the price of DxDP this year, combined with the fact that my youngest with now be 10 -- and eats like an 8 yr old -- I really think that 7 nts of DxDP is just too much.

What are the chances that they will make us switch rooms for the two day reservation at the end? Would you risk it?

All you can do is request to stay in the same room. We only do the DDP for short stays and the last time we had to move because we unlinked the reservations.

I guess it depends on what you feel is more important, staying in the same room or getting a discount on your food.

If you note both reservations and mention it again at check-in, chances are you will not have to move. But it's possible. I would also mention it the day before at the front desk.

If you are linked, you won't have to move, but you'l have to buy the dining plan for the entire stay.

If they aren't linked, you may have to move, but you might be able to buy the dining plan for the shorter stay.

Once you note the second reservation on the first, they are linked.

All you can do is ask when you check out and check back in. And by then it may be too late.

The dining plan doesn't work for everyone. In your case, it doesn't sound like it works well for your family.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I think that we've decided to unlink the reservations, add DXDP to the first 5 nts and hope for the best.

We may plan a pool day with a late morning breakfast and just take it easy that day, just in case we have to switch rooms.

I'm off to call MS!!

I cannot imagine that you would have to move. I think they really try to minimize moves for you ...and them. I would bet you are safe. But, try to link the reservations just as a safe guard.

The OP can't link the two reservations and still get the dining plan for only one of them.

We had this situation and the front desk (AKL Jambo) said it is very rare to have to move as long as there are notes on the second reservation. You do have to go down on the morning of the second reservation to "see if your room is ready"

I've done this several times. The changes of having to move are small if you note it at check in and again early morning of the change over day. You will have to check in again though.
