University Student Discount Question

Hi, I'm a UCR undergrad student and I just found out that we get discounted disneyland prices!

Anyways, the employees at the student store couldn't answer my question about ID information for Disneyland. I need my student ID at the student store to purchase tickets, but I'm from Northern California, so my state ID does not have a socal zipcode. I also want to get a discount ticket for my friend who is not attending a socal school and is not a socal resident. The tickets are considered socal resident tickets, so will my friend and I have a problem at the gate with our tickets?

The student tickets are under a no refund policy so I didn't buy them today in fear of the employees at the gate asking for ID and both of us being out $200 combined. Thanks in advanced.

I'll give the standard DISboard answer...

SoCal discounted tickets are for those residing in SoCal zip codes only. While your ID is for a NorCal zip code, do you have mail, particularly utility bills, that have a SoCal address on them? When I first moved to San Diego and didn't have a new license yet, I called Disneyland and they said bringing a utility bill with my name on it from a SoCal zip would suffice as proof.

As far as your friend that doesn't live in SoCal OR attend a SoCal school, technically they are not eligible for the SoCal discount tickets.

Okay, now that I said that, there is no guarantee that Disney will check at the gates when you go. They always have the right to check, and if they do and you have SoCal tickets without proof, then you're out of luck. When you order online, they require you to enter a SoCal zip as your billing address, and if you buy them in person at stores, those selling are supposed to ask you for proof at that time as well, but how often that gets done is questionable.

In short, they are for SoCal residents only, and here on the DISboards we can't promote anything that doesn't follow official Disney policy
