We just booked week after Christmas in Orlando and I think WDW will be out of the budget. But our Sam's Club has a ticket to Universal -- Buy 2 day, get 3 more day Free. So the tickets for my family are almost $1000 less than WDW, so that is doable for last minute.

Here is my question. How do the tickets work? Do I just buy them and get a code that I can go online and reserve our days at Universal? We will be there the week of New Year, so I would hate to spend the money on the tickets and them not be able to get into the park. Anyway to find out. right now you can still buy the tickers for all the days we will be there on the Universal site.

You do not reserve your days, if you have a paid ticket package in-hand it is first-come, first-serve at the gates. The only way you will get turned away is if a park is at capacity, but even then can usually wait in a line to get into the park.

Is it still true if you are staying at a resort hotel you can get in?

There is a special line for resort guests when the park reaches capacity, but there are no guarantees.

We just did it Saturday. We stayed at RPR, waltzed in around 10, left about 3 to go back to room and take naps getting ready for OI Meetup. Came back to Universal side, both parks at capacity, they have signs at front gate that say "Hotel Guests" and normal park guests before you even get to the turnstiles. We walked right in as they were holding the normal park guests, but moving the hotel guest line straight to turnstiles. There are people coming and going the entire time, so I wouldn't stress real hard about it if staying on property.

My concern is that it will be the week between Christmas and New Year. I would hate to have tickets in our hands and not be able to get into the park.
