Universal & The Holy Land Exp?

We are booked for June for our second stay at Universal. I am a little worried we will be disappointed staying at the Hard Rock. The first time we stayed at the PB and boy did we get SPOILED! We can't swing PB this time so opted for a standard room at the Hard Rock. We are also thinking about a side trip to The Holy Land Experience which is suppose to be just a couple of miles away. Has anyone else visited here and what did you think? Is it worth the cost of admission? We won't have a car and will have to cab it. Are the cabs trustworthly or are they likely to take us the loooooong way around?

I've been to the Holy Land Experience and thought it was great! We went last Feb so we got to see "the Passion" reenactment. Everything is beautifully done and the people are in full "character". It is a very insightful, thought provoking and moving experience. To us it was worth the price of admission. We are headed there again next trip.

Sorry, I can't speak on the taxi experience, however, FL Tours charges $60 round trip from the Universal hotels.

The price of admission to Holy Land has risen to the point where (IMHO) it will attract only the truly faithful.

Which is too bad because, if you accept the place at face value, it does a very good job of what it sets out to do.

My favorite is the model of Jerusalem as it looked around the time of Jesus. Every hour or so a Bible scholar gives a very informative talk that associates landmarks in the city with the stories of the Bible, especially the Passion.

The price for adults is approx. $30 and for kids it's $20. To me it is worth that price because I look at it as giving an offering/donation to help keep an attraction like that going.
