I'm sure they sold lots of butterbeer and t-shirts and all... but it was still a great gesture of the type you don't see at Disney anymore.

Universal really does seem to have some great management -- which is surprising when you consider that one of the owners (until the buyout is complete anyway) is a private equity firm.

Side note: Isn't it amazing that Disney is actually stingier than a private equity firm?

I would, too. They got in gratis to a 1/3 full WWoHP. There would be no complaints from me.

1/3 full is alot better than normal, but 3000 people is not exclusive access. Exclusive access is 200 people. Not worth arguing about and I'm sure all the Potterheads had a great time, but 3000 people is what most people would consider exclusive.

Who decides that "200 people" would be "exclusive"? You? That's just silly. Any small group, like this, GIVEN free entry to WWoHP for attending a movie is obviously quite exclusive, IMO.

If anyone has been there in peak season or even lower crowds? They'll know 3000 people in the park makes it loads of fun.

What is up with the people who can't see past Disney?? While Disney is cutting services Universal is really stepping up.
I actually think there were 3000 people in one area of Fantasyland when we were there and 1500 were trying to get on Peter Pan at the same time.

I think it was a wonderful gesture and was it free access like they have for private parties? That includes Butterbeer, just not t shirts etc.

Kudos to Universal.

Considering how many people can fit into the queue of Forbidden Journey (which is where many would be on the castle tour), 3000 is quite small. Exclusive doesn't really have anything to do with numbers anyways....it just means that it is limited to certain guests.
