Universal Studios

There are both a Hilton and Sheraton Hotels located at Universal that are the equivalent (distance-wise) to an on-property hotel at DLR. The issue, of course, is price since these are not budget hotels. I did stay at the Sheraton once via Hotwire for $102/night.

And there are a few more options listed on this Universal hotels page. The Beverly Garland Holiday Inn is a short drive to the park and might be the best moderately priced hotel in the bunch.

Thanks, and is the area around the hotels nice? You felt safe there? Like I said, Ive never been and don't know anything about the area. :goodvibes :goodvibes

The Hilton and Sheraton are on-property, so there are no issues there. It's quite safe! The Beverly Garland is located in N. Hollywood/Studio City. The area is very safe and I wouldn't worry about it at all. I've been there for a couple of conventions and had no issues exploring the nearby shops and restaurants. And there shouldn't be any problems with the locations of the other hotels listed on the Universal hotel page either. Good luck with your trip planning!!! :goodvibes

I went this summer for the first time and easily completed every show and ride with no problem and left well before the park closed.

Arrived at opening and we did The Simpsons, Backlot Tour and then went to the lower section. We ate lunch and did all of the upper stuff and left.
