Who's been? I need some advice and such. In September we might go to Universal for a couple days and I need to know a few things about the rides. I don't plan on intensely researching it like I do WDW but I still don't want to be surprised.

I'm not a huge roller coaster fan and I HATE going upside down. My favorite WDW rides are BTMRR, Space, Splash and things like that. Which rides would you reccomend and which rides should I stay away from?

We went this past August. We were going to just do Universal and not Islands of Adventure, but the worker at the ticket center suckered us into it. I have to say, most people who want to see most things and make the best of the parks cannot do both in one day. We started at Universal, and didn't even do everything, and were only able to make it over to Islands of Adventure and do 2 rides. Though this may be different because we went in August and the lines were insanely long, but you say your going in September and thats free dining time for Disney I would expect Universal to be packed as well.

Disney is practically deserted in September. :)

At what time are you going? Free Dining or After?
We're going for free dining. We went last year as well and all wait times were 5-10 minutes. The restaurants were a little more crowded but the crowds were not nearly as much as summer.

I haven't been there in years so I have no advice.
But have an awesome trip Jenny!
Do a ride in Seuss Landing for me please?

IDK if it's still there, but there was a simulator ride where you would get together with some Hanna Barbera characters and try to defeat the bad guys.
(Think Jetsons,Wacky Races,The Flinestones)

I never been to Universal....I really have no desire to either. I just love Disney. But my brother on the other hand wants to go.

I LOVE Universal.
It really is awesome!!!
doesn't have the magic of Disney, but it's got it's own vibe. It's great and I LOOOVE it.
Universal Studios doesn't have any serious/scary rides (Except Revenge of the Mummy) But all the other rides there are pretty tame and really fun.
There are lots of cool shows as well about behind the scenes stuff & movie making (the horror makeup show is REALLY cool and really funny!)
So all the rides are realy good, pretty tame and REALLY fun. (and I seriously suggest going on the mummy ride, it's a roller coaster, but there are NO loops...it's just ReALLY fun and kinda scary!)

Islands of Adventure is where the thrills are. There are quite a few roller coaster/serious thrill rides (hulk, dueling dragons, dr. doom, dudley do right, jurassic park) But it's really an amazing park and it's SO much fun.
Suess Landing is amazing, and all the little themed lands are SO well done, you will really be impressed I think.

@ IOA, Dudley Do Right is like a more severe Splash, but it's REALLY fun and totally worth it, Jurassic Park too (only that scares the bujezus out of me because I'm scared of dinos!) but the drop is sooo fun!

I've been there. IMO, WDW is SO much better but that's just my biased "DISNEY PWNS YOUR FACE" opinion. :)
In the end I will always pick a trip to WDW over Universal.

There are a lot of roller coasters/thrill rides there and a lot of them go upside-down. Suess Landing has an awesome carousel of Dr.Suess characters. xD

I didn't like Universal much.
It does have a lot of shows, but they tend to all go on at the same time which isn't really that great.

There is quite a few more.. extreme rides, like Jurassic Park (like Splash Mountain, except it's 84 feet and if you're standing next to where the flume thing comes out, you get soaked), Hulk coaster and stuff like that.
But as far as theming and stuff, I don't find it's as appealing for me. I didn't grow up watching ET, or reading Dr. Seuss, I've never seen Jaws.. etc.

I think there's also a lot more 3-D rides, and the Jimmy Neutron one should be avoided if you're really sensitive to those things. Like, the 3-Dness and all the jerking can really make a person sick to their stomach. It was bad.

That left. =( I use to love that!

My family and I have AP to Universal Orlando and have been a ton. I think you may like Men in Black Alien Attack, ET, Jaws, Twister if you wanna just kinda chill. On Islands of Adventure, I would the Suess Landing Rides, Popeye's and Bluto River Barges (better then in AK), and MAYBE Dudley Doo Rights Ripsaw Falls. When I rode that, I felt like I was going to fall out!

I really didn't like that one xD
It was mostly because I had so little to hold on to. You hold onto the seats in front of them, and they're this leathery material, that when it's wet, is next to impossible to hold on to.

I love Universal !
Im not going this year though. :/

But anyway, definitely do The Spiderman ride.
It is AWESOME !
So yeah if you don't like roller coasters steer clear of the Hulk and Dueling Dragons.

OMG! Yeah. After the first drop I was soaked and so was the seat and I was so worried because I didn't have anything to really hold onto that was dry. I noticed at the end though they had railings on the inside of the log but I heard you get air time from holding on.

I thought I was going to fall out. :p

yeah there is NOTHING restraining you and nothing to hold on to...my little cousin cried because she thought she was going to fall out!!
it is kinda weird that it's done like that--but i guess they haven't had any problems with it yet. :confused3

Splash Mountain has no restraints and a leathery type handle to hold on to. xD

Lol, trust me the one on Dudley Do Rights just has holes to stick your thumbs in and you hold onto the seat. :p

I actually don't remember that xD
I do remember, that there was a spot that I could dig my feet into, and that was pretty good.
From what I can remember... I'm pretty sure, Dudley's had you sitting like you would on a see saw, sitting on something, with your legs draped to the sides.

lol seriously! i forgot. duh.
but dudley do right feels x10 less safe than slah for some reason.
you're in a boat that's shaped alot like the Space Mountain cars...it's not very comforting.
But a very fun ride nonetheless
