On Travel City Direct's website 2015 tickets were listed at £109 for both adults and children (they have gone up to £119 now). They wouldn't let me add them to my booking for that price so I have complained. In the meantime, I rang around to see what price I could get and finally got FloridaTix down to £117 per adult and £109 per child, so a grand total of £577. It was a price I was willing to pay so I bit the bullet. It is the cheapest price I have found, the most expensive is direct with Universal where the same ticket costs £136 per adult!

Great prices, congratulations on finally taking the plunge - although I am having difficulty figuring out how (presumably) 3 adult and 2 child tickets comes to £577 :confused3

Just an FYI, purchasing 3 adult and 2 child tickets with Attractiontix through Quidco would have come out at £580 after cashback so not much difference.

It's 4 adults and 1 child because the kids will be 7, 11 and 15.
Just glad I have finally booked!
I have also booked two rooms at the Premier Inn for the night before we fly for £70.
I am on a roll....

Have they gone up that much? I paid £116 per adult around 6 weeks ago for 2015 tickets...

The cheapest I could find them was £119 per adult. I was getting worried as I had seen them for £136 and £129, so just took the plunge. With having to buy 5 tickets, I didn't want to get stung if they increased in price.

Don't blame you - I snapped up the £116 because it saved me £6! Every penny counts :thumbsup2

Glad you got sorted - that is a good price! I am going to have to wait to book ours - with just having booked DC (almost £1,000 for the four of us!) and our car hire just recently.

I've just bought a preferred AP at $330 (incl. Taxes and shipping)
Discounts on onsite accomodations alone pay for the AP
We'll be doing one night at portofino and one night at hrh. Room discounts for passholders will save us $300
So in our case it's basically a free admission (and we get 10% off food and merchandise on top of that)
DW and DS will either get a 14 days ticket or a power AP depending on how many days we'll do since we're in orlando for 3 weeks

The stay more deal on universal site may work best for longer stays onsite but an AP can be a better deal in some cases
Just for information

That is definitely worth knowing! I had already booked HRH but will keep that option in mind for the next time we go.

Also worth knowing: if you don't own an AP, but are in the AA back here in the UK,your AA card will get you 10% off dining, purchases and even the mini golf at US Orlando too - just hand it to the member of staff/server before you pay. (It can be worth joining the AA for this perk if you plan to eat at City Walk!)

I'm not sure if it's still the case but it used to be that they gave AAA (AA in the UK) discount on room rates too.

That is very interesting to know. We are thinking of doing a couple of days at US on our next trip, and I was hoping to maybe stay overnight. :)

ooh another option i will have to price up !

Just so you know, to save the amount that chmurf is talking about is rare, particularly on a 1 or 2 night stay. We stayed at RPR in October - 2 rooms for 3 nights and saved probably a total of about $150. And we had two APs to be able to save that amount.

Having said that, if you plan to spend a significant amount of time at Universal and visit more than one or two days, including eating sit down meals there, the savings can be significant (certainly enough to offset the additional cost of an AP over a multi-day ticket)

absolutely. It does not work for everyone or for every type of stay

so let me talk about our specific case.

we're staying onsite at OKW for 3 weeks.
During that time, we will spend 2 nights, one at HRH on week 1, one at Portofino Bay on week 2. We'll be taking advantage of the fact that 1 night at Universal gets you 2 days of unlimited express passes and early entry (check in and check out day)
on week 3, we are looking at level 2 attendance, so we'll go without express passes.

So that's 2 one nighters while we'll still be checked in at OKW

At Portofino Bay, rack rate price for 1 night for our dates, for a 2 queen bay view is $364 (before tax)
Annual Passholder rate for that night is $239

that's a saving of $125 for that night alone.
we could also opt to book a Club level room for $334 (yes cheaper than the bay view without AP)

At HRH 2 queen pool view, $334 and only $229 with AP discount
that's a saving of $105

for those 2 nights, if we book a bay view at Portofino and a Pool view at HRH we save $230 on rooms alone. (we could save more staying both nights at portofino and booking standard view)
for each visit in week 3, we save $18 since we get free parking with the preferred AP
and we get 10% off food and merchandise.

preferred pass costs $335, we will save roughly $300 with the AP (between accomodation, food, merch, parking at parks on non hotel visits as AP does not get free parking at hotels) so that brings my ticket down to $35.

Now this works for us because we chose to stay checked in at OKW and pay the Universal room on top of our WDW booking. This saves us packing, and we keep free dining throughout our 3 weeks stay.

For guests who will make 2 separate stays, like 1 week WDW then 1 week universal, it might not work as good.

for example, a 4 nights stay in a 2 queen pool view at HRH at the same period of time will cost on average $267.20 a night with the stay more, save more deal (room only)
that's $1068 for the 4 nights (excluding taxes as I don't factor them in any of the simulations here)

the same stay, with AP discount averages $229 per night for a total of $916 pretax.

that's still a saving of $152 before tax on that 4 nights stay.

if the guest's stay does not fall inside the blackout dates, they could go for the power AP, which is cheaper at $228.27 (including taxes, and without shipping = will call)

so with the AP discount, the power AP comes at $76 which is still way cheaper than a 14 days bonus ticket
and the preferred AP comes at $180 (with food and merch discounts on top) which is still cheaper than the 14 days bonus ticket.

But this does not work for every stay. We go at a "slow" (regular as per Universal's rankings) and the AP discount is deeper than it is a peak times. So it's not as worth it at busier times.

there is also a caveat. You are supposed to have an active AP at check in to qualify for the AP rate, so depending on how lenient the Team member is at check in, you might have to go to the parks and enter them to activate your AP before checking in (most TMs will allow you to show your AP at some point during your stay)

also, AP rate must be booked, discount cannont be applied after the booking is made.

if you want to make a simulation, go to universal, click on onsite hotels, and select "promotion", then type APH in the code box.
AP rates are usually available 3 to 4 months out, so nothing will show for later dates. and if nothing shows, then nothing is available at that rate.

also, AP rate must be booked, discount cannont be applied after the booking is made.

Actually, the AP discount can be applied retrospectively to an existing booking as long as it is made with Loews directly. we idd exactly that last year as the AP rates hadn't been released when we first booked.

floridatix showing £127 per adult currently, i cant find anything under £120 pp.
i would love £116 but would be happy with £120 from a reputable retailer.
anyone seen any good real ticket prices this evening?

As I said above, purchasing from Attractiontix through Quidco is probably the best bet at the moment.

Just do what I did: Travel City Direct have tickets at £119 per adult and £109 per child. Ring Florida Tix and ask them to price match. And that's it :)
