Hello there,

I am planning on going to Universal studios this year and would like to know my best deal to get a decent rate at the RPH. Should I purchase annual passes? I did sign up to be a Loews member. I hope you can help. I do not live in the area. I am coming from Illinois. I realize I will not be taking the full effect of a annual pass. Just trying to figure out my best ticket options and or room rates.

AAA has great rates. However, if good annual pass rates are released, the discount can just about pay for the pass with the money saved . You do get discounts with both AAA and annual pass rates for tickets and restaurants, gift shops, etc. throughout the parks. Also, if you do decide to get the annual pass, unless you plan more than one trip this year, I would only buy one. That's all you would need for the discount. Just buy regular tickets for everyone else. You didn't mention who was traveling with you. Universal has extended the buy 1 adult ticket get 1 child's ticket free until Dec. 2006.
Loews only accepts AAA discounts towards Loews First stays. If you are trying
to get gold or platinum status,do not book with the annual pass discount. I found this out the hard way.
Good Luck on your decision and have a great trip! You will love RPR- it's fabulous.

also from illinois. depending on where you live determines the cost of AAA membership for the year.
for chgoland, where i am , it is $54 a year if you sign up on line thru their website. the $10 membership one time charge is presently being waived for new members.

i booked rph with my aaa for the discount for my fall trip.
the room at regular price is $227.xx
with the aaa dicount it is $183.20
yes, for the same room, same date.
those above figures do not have tax on them. i believe the hotel tax rate is 11.5%, i could be off on that though.

the ap rate for my time period has not been released yet.
last year the aph rate dropped 3 weeks before my trip and was lower than the aaa discount.
it is not a guarantee to get the ap rate.
there is a certain percentage of rooms that are allowed for the aaa rate all the time. if you want a sure bet, go with aaa. you can book it yourself or have aaa book it for you. same price

how many days will you be doing the parks? that will help determine if you should go with a pass or tickets.

both ap and aaa give you 10% off merch and food in the park and at city walk and at the hotels.

i don't know if i have been of any help to you but if you could add more to your request, it might help us direct you in a different direction.
